My favorite teams
All in all, the show is fairly accurate to period. I would say they missed opportunities and made mistakes for sure. I feel like nitpicking a bit.
Things that bother me about the show. The prop accuracy isn't great. It's not as bad as the Goldbergs(which is the least accurate attempt at an 80s show that I have ever seen), but HCF has made a lot of easy to correct mistakes in mistake and wardrobe. As far as character drive, they overly focus on what we would consider today as the BIG things of the time, but back then it was a different focus. Like CDC, Olivetti, etc are all brushed under the rug, but the very obvious Altair and Apple are mentioned like candy staples of the time(when in fact at the time of 82-83, the clone market was still as big as IBM themselves for the PC industry).
Cameron could pull off an Aimee Mann look. Maybe a less exaggerated version of her(since Aimee is a pop star of the time, and Cameron doesn't actually have a sense of style, just a sense of rebellion).
See Cameron looks more 2014 than 1983.
I also think they fail to capitalize on the video game crash.
Clone CPUs were growing fast at this time. AMD made an official clone that twisted IBMs hand at the time due to their policy(based on anti-trust with state department contracts), and that opened the door for many others.
They worked on finalized PCBs with the giant for the whole development period. Uhh, early development would have been breadboards and wires to get the proof of concept. It would have been a lot messier and with a lot more tape labels.
