Who said blows to the head is okay? Stop putting words into my mouth.

Sorry, I didn't find that to be suspension worthy by Jannik Hansen.

Captain Doofus HE ELBOWED HIM DIRECTLY IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD, and made no play for the puck. Its a dirty hit without question.
I know you dont like agreeing with any crowd, but on a hit as blatant as that you cant argue. Come on man you are better then that.

Don't see how this elbow to the back of the head was only 20 as malicious as Keith's elbow to Sedin.

Probably because Hansen originally was going for the puck while Keith went out of his to hit him... and of course the Canucks bitching about it being premeditated.

Going for the puck? With his elbow in front?

It went down later, I can believe that he was originally going for it but then he made the bad hit when he realized he wasn't getting it.

I've seen a few people talk about Keith's elbow versus Hansen's hit to the head. In my opinion, there was no doubt that intent was shown by Keith while I do not believe so of Hansen's hit. That reason alone is why Keith did (and should have) get suspended more games than Hansen. I think the NHL got it right for the most part with both of those suspensions...and I don't think they would have gotten it wrong if they added a few more games to either hit as both have no place in hockey.

Well said. Blows to the head intentional or not have no place in sports anymore.

Not long enough... Hansen should be suspended for the length of time the injured player is out. Actually, that should be the league rule, if you do something that is deemed a suspendable offense, and you have injured someone, then you need to sit the amount of time that player takes to get back on the ice.

With teams targeting Hossa cuz he's playing great and the Hawks are skating great, how is that different then the Saints bounty shit? It's the back of the head shit that gets me, in no way can a blatent hit to the back of the head not be intentional, imo.

The influx of CBMB members to this board is so, so obvious. Sad.

I think it's a stretch to say "teams" are targeting Hossa. I think it's very likely Vancouver's team was doing so, because that entire organization, from the GM down, is a bunch of fucking idiots. And don't forget that Raffi Torres is a product of that same organization and probably a similar mentality.

Hard to pin Torres' game style on the Canucks as he was only there a year. I actually find it unlikely that Vancouver was targeting Hossa's head.

Everyone is going to play Hossa tough regardless because, well he is Hossa. The head hit happened to be a poor decision by one player, not the organization.

The Canucks are well-known for this. As soon as they get behind, the complaints to the ref gets louder and the legality of their players' actions gets more and more murky with each contact.

When you have a GM and a coach that frequently complain at the smallest of perceived slights, it sets a tone within the entire organization. There's a difference between playing tough and breaking the rules. Vancouver all too frequently falls into the latter category because of an organizational dysfunction.

Fair enough, I was not meaning to generalize too much. Really, my main point was with all the Pub that the NFL gets with the concussions, etc., there is still some blatant shit that happens in Hockey that's not a big deal.
