Just watch Last Man on Earth. Then you'll know everything and at the same time, nothing.
Is that show still on? I didn't get it. He wasn't even the last man on earth. Not even much of a man really.

I'm about to move down there as well, I've been there twice and it seems pretty nice. The atmosphere of it is kinda disappointing in the main driving areas since it feels like a Chicago Suburb to some degrees. I guess that can be a positive or negative to anyone.

I was stationed at Davis-Montham AFB in Tuscon from 1997-2000 (And Luke AFB in Phoenix from 1989-1993). I loved Tuscon. I wish we could have stayed when I left active duty. Weather is gorgeous if you don't mind a few months of blistering dry heat. Occassional monsoon rains during the summer. Can drive up Mt. Lemon in the winter if you have a desire to see snow. 3-4 Hour drive to Peurto Penasco in Mexico if you want ocean/beach. @ 6 hours to Las Vegas, San Diego or LA. Lots to do if you like camping/fishing/hiking/biking/golf. Tuscon is probably the most bike friendly town I've ever lived in. Home of U of A and a good community college system as well. My kids were pre-school age at the time, can't comment on the state of public education. The only thing I didn't like about Arizona was state income taxes. Didn't own a home there can't comment on property taxes. I prefer Tuscon over Phoenix.

I have an Aunt that has lived in Tucson for like 30 years.... lots of Chicago transplants out there.

I've only been out there to visit during various Summer breaks in High School and College.

If you like Mexican food and have a good A/C unit you should be fine.

right. nice weather 24/7/365 is kind of a huge selling point.

I think you are underestimating the desert heat during the summer months.

In the summer it was so hot that sweat evaporated so quickly while bicycling that instead of being sweaty when I got home I was covered in a fine salty grit. 120F is fucking hot humid or not.

Tell me about it. I used to live in the high desert of California (Palm Springs area), where it would reach 110 degrees for extended periods in the summer. I was much more miserable in the 90 degree humid Orlando summer. Still, when it gets that hot, you can't do shit except stay at home with the A/C full blast. There were times when we had $800 electric bills during the summer due to the A/C being on so much.

Yeah that is something to consider lol.... your electric bill might be like double or triple on average what you pay around Chicago.... not a deal breaker but something to consider.

I enjoyed my time growing up there in the 90s. Lived on the NW side. Very, very hot, but if you're sick of snow it's the place for you. Everyone else pretty much said spot on things. I spent spring break 99 at Puerto Penasco. Close to Cali, Vegas and you'll have some skiing straight N of Tucson.

What part of the city are you moving to? Best pizza place by the slice I have EVER had is at Upper Crust on grant rd. Sooo good.

Doesn't Monster live there?

No. I think that's Botfly. I live in Phoenix but will now travel to Tucson four days a month for my job. Just got back today and enjoyed the trip. Nice people. Hot this time a year like Phoenix but glorious nine months a year. I'm a desert guy. The heat just makes the golf ball go farther. Was born and raised in Rockford Illinois. Will never return to any Illinois shit hole. To many taxes and convicted governors.

Catalina Foothills is the exact area in Tucson I'd be staying.

It just depends on if you like Sun and can handle the summer heat. I love Arizona.

The entire place is like one of those little meditation gardens people keep on their desk in Chicago. The gardening is ordered.

Sure there are snakes, scorpions (the aggressive Bark scorpion stings about 2000 people state wide when it wakes up cranky every spring),

but the nature is awesome if you like nature. Its what you make of it.
