I wanted Noah on draft day over Hawes, and still would take him, by an even wider margin now over Hawes.

I will admit I wanted Hawes over Noah on draft day i wont sit here and lie to anyone but when I saw Noah play with that intensity rookie year and make the comments he made about being upset about losing I knew he was the guy for us.

Noah easily. Replace Noah with Hawes in the Celtics series, and the Bulls probably lose in 5. Noah is a much bigger impact player.

agreed. We already have a jump shooter in Tyrus could you imagine having Hawes on this team as well?

Hell you ask Kings fans who they would rather have and even they would pick Noah.

I had to look for Hawes in the NBA.com player list because I´ve never heard about him and didn´t know where he plays. So that should be answer enough.

I like Noah better but Hawes is younger is is a much better scorer. He would be a better fit next to TT long term IMO even though Noah is a better player.

I agree, except I can't say the margin is any wider. I was extremely in favor of Noah and extremely opposed to Hawes.

I thought it would be a laugher of a debate in a couple years, and I think that's just what it's become.

Hawes uses 6 more shots to get 4 more points than Noah per 36 minutes. That's a really, really bad trade off. Hawes extra skills offensively are made moot by the point that they aren't good enough to generate efficient points for his team. Noah's aren't either, but Noah knows this and doesn't suck up possessions, but instead gets his opportunity baskets.

Noah's a better player than TT as well, so fitting someone around TT doesn't make much sense. It's like picking a SG because he complements Kirk Hinrich rather than picking one to complement Derrick Rose.

It's also worth nothing, Noah is better at the critical parts of his position than Tyrus or Hawes is for their positions. Noah's not a superstar, but he's good at doing what a center needs to do. Tyrus isn't good at a lot of PF things, and Hawes is pretty terrible at all center things.

Hawes is what we need. A low post scorer lol! He's the most skilled young big man in the league at the Center position. You can argue Al Jefferson is but Spencer is the guy. I think we could of beat Celtics if we had him - depending on his health. The guy can play one-on-one defense in a stationed position. He can also shoot the three. Yeah all know Tyrus is a jumpshooter, but don't you ever compare them two guys. Tyrus can't hot if his life depended on it. Spencer can light it up. Noah will be great for us if he ever bulk up. Right now his lower body is not prototypical. He better get stronger before one of them big guys have him like Shaun Livingston of the Clippers. He scares me sometime when them mediocre big men tosses him around.

I don't mean to be insulting, but do you actually ever watch Spender Hawes play?

The dude is tissue soft and hangs out on the perimeter shooting jumpers at a mediocre percentage. He doesn't light up anyone with his post scoring, he's not near big enough, strong enough, athletic enough, or skilled enough to dominate in the post in the NBA, and it's unlikely he ever will be.

He can't defend to save his ass, and certainly isn't anywhere near as good a defender as Noah. He has one of the worst adjusted net +/- ratings on the Kings and one of the worst PER differentials in the league.

Hawes is still young enough to say he's not a bust, but he has a lot to improve upon to get out of that category, and is awfully far away from doing it.

Did you look at both players stat and compare? And did you see Hawes highlights?

Noah's stats are WAY better than Hawes if you understand basketball statistics and not just per game numbers.

I was so afraid that draft that we were going to end up with Hawes. If I'm remembering correctly, they even had him back in for a second workout that year and Hawes was talking like he was very confident the Bulls wanted him. Maybe they did, but I sure as heck didn't, and I was absolutely thrilled when they called Joakim's name. Wasn't thrilled with the suit and hair that night, but liked that he's got personality and is willing to go his own way on top of what he brings on the court.

And I've only grown fonder of him since - aside from being a bit irked that he was out of shape to start the year!

I'm not going to lie, on draft day I wanted someone more offensive minded like Hawes. However, Noah has grown to be the better player and I'm glad we have him. Noah all the way.

I can't blame you for wanting someone more offensive minded than Noah as well. I also wanted someone more offensive minded, but I didn't see a good offensive minded big man to take.

To me, at the time, Hawes was offensively minded, but he didn't seem like he'd be good enough to be an offensive difference maker. At that point, you're still looking for someone more offensive minded because you haven't solved the problem, and on top of it, you haven't gotten a player you can really use either.
