I agree, they have bad goaltending and bad defense and yet they keep winning.... There are areas they certainly need to improve on if they ant to hoist the Cup again

Good that they have an 82-game season this year to get it all ironed out.

I know it's early and only playoff hockey matters, but I'm seeing some things that concern me. Particularly, the PK and some sleepy defense. In a couple games (Nash, last night), it just appeared that the Hawks heads weren't in it. I don't think I've ever seen a Hawks game with such sloppy passing and puck carelessness. They are simply not that team - arguably the best puck possession team in the NHL.

Didn't think the Hawks would win last night. Col, a very good team, had lost 3 in a row. Highly unlikely for a good team to lose a 4th in a row.

Crawford also concerns me. His goals against average ranks in the bottom of the league. Thank God the Hawks have been scoring a lot. If you take Sundays' game out, Crawford has given up 8 goals in 2 and half periods. Last night was particularly aggregious - 3 goals in 7 shots.

I don't know if I would blame Crow for any of the goals that he gave up last night. The first one is squarely on Seabs for making a terrible attempt at a pass. The second one was a tip 10 feet out. Not much a goalie can do in that situation. The last one was another bad decision by the dmen. That was the only on that I thought he likely should have had, but still a tough one.

What I don't like is that this team just doesn't seem to care some nights. Last night and the Nashville game are perfect examples. By the time they gave a shit in the second period, they were already down three. They showed how dominant they can be in the second period with how they controlled the play, but the wife beater was on his game.

Also, it does not help at all that they really only had 10 forwards worth a damn out there last night. Bollig is still a turd and Brookbank is, well, Brookbank. He is n't that great of a dman and is pretty much god awful as a forward. Heaven forbid that Q actually give a guy like Morin a shot though. He has one guy each year that he just won't give a chance, and that seems to be Morin this season. He would have had Saad playing fourth line minutes for the better part of last season if Carcillo would not have gotten injured in game one. Unfortunately Stan keeps giving him guys like Bollig each season at the expense of someone that might actually be of some use. I think it must be some clause in Q's contract.

All of that being said, I just don't think that this team gives a damn about the regular season, or truly what seed they are going into the postseason. I think they are merely looking at being ready for the playoffs...and truth be told, as long as they play well then, I am good with that.

I agree to a certain extent. The Nashville game was a joke... anyone between the pipes was hung out to dry. This game was a bit different, there was effort but its hard to over come the good breaks that Colorado got in this game. Combine that with the jailbait goalie looking like his coach in net and it spells ugly loss. One thing about this team...they know what it takes to win and they know when its needed. I'll only worry when it appears that they won't make the tournament. But they better be careful....the west is a ***** this year.

What do you guys make of the inability to convert on shots this season? I was at the Phoenix game and they score 4 goals - but on 52 shots. 52!! They scored 1 goal on 35 the other night. Saw significant missed opptys by Bollig and Kane in the first that would have made it a 3-2 game.

Just seems like shots aren't converting as much (even though they've been averaging 5 goals until Tuesday). On the contrary, it seems like the other teams are converting a similar number of goals but on much fewer shots.

What do you guys make of that? Shit, Sharpie has probably had a dozen breakaways that he hasn't converted. Snakebitten I guess.
