Hawks games and WGN

So as I was tweeting last night I happened to ***** about the camera work for WGN. As many of us have. Low and behold they tweeted me back asking for feedback.

So for all of those that have issues with the camera work, blurryness at times, delay in breaks, ect ect..... Things or issues Comcast doesn't seem to have.

Wow... that's interesting. It's hard to sum it up in a nice little email though as it's just a kind of compilation of little things. Can we start with the announcers? Haha.

Well unfortunately the announcers and the fact people in rockford can't get the games are out of their control.

But

There were times the picture was blurry last night, one really bad one. Times the camera does not follow the play. Times the delay between the game and commercials just sits there with black screen. Off the top of my head each of those occured last night, and occur almost every time I see a game broadcast through WGN. Now someone on twitter said it was the same production company that does the games via comcast. That i'm just not sure of? They'd contract the same folks?

Great. Do you forget what happened after Jako talked to the Hawks about the band?

BTW, the PHX feed was crystal clear, except for the fact that we had to hear Tyson Nash commentary.

Don't forget Champaign, Bloomington, Peoria, etc......

Another game I had to listen on the radio. I've written the Hawks 3 years in a row now. Last year I got a half-assed answer. This year I haven't even gotten a reply about it yet.

I've been told it's usually the same guys on the camera's just different producers.

Would it kill them to list the goal scorer followed by who got the assists after a goal?

How about some faceoff stats between whistles.

How about a pre-game show like every other major sport has?

I'm down with all those things as well. I gotta imagine though that with as few games as they have (even though it seems to be more and more every year) it's hard to justify high production costs? Not that those things individually are costly, but getting good people and resources to do it all probably is?

I'll pass if WGN is doing it. You'd have a pregame show with Dan Roan, which I'm pretty sure they have done in the past.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
The camera angles for the replays were from either center ice or behind and above the net.

I've been able to watch some game action clips done by TSN and their camera angles appeared to be much better than what Comcast gives you.

I wonder why the Grinch lets WGN get away with putting such a shit telecast on the air?

I agree that Dan Roan is brutal. I don't think he ever knows what he is talking about. Just be grateful you never have to listen to John Garret. He is my number one least favourite.

On game coverage for Bulls, Cubs and Sox...you never see these issues. However, the producer is new to hockey since they haven't covered it until a few years ago.

that being said...I would think WGN could bring someone in who knows the sport.

That's the thing... I asked my buddy and he said the camera guys are the same, the producer is different. I couldn't tell if he meant the camera guys are the same for WGN/CSN, or if that meant the camera guys are the same for WGN on all broadcasts (which would be obvious you would think).
