Hawks games and WGN

That's the thing... I asked my buddy and he said the camera guys are the same, the producer is different. I couldn't tell if he meant the camera guys are the same for WGN/CSN, or if that meant the camera guys are the same for WGN on all broadcasts (which would be obvious you would think).

according to one of the guys on twitter it's the same production company for Comcast and GN. I find that hard to believe as comcast seems to have better and more consistant angles.

It seems that on Comcast they have more camaras than WGN. Plus it was dark last night on WGN....might have just been my TV.

To me its just painfully obvious the producers and camera man don't know the game. We missed a quick shot off a faceoff last night (which happens to every crew), there great at losing the puck during a defensive zone turnover, there are little to no stats shown, and most of all the feed is definitely shittier. I find it very hard to believe its the same company that Comcast uses.

I think the other issue is what camera to cut to.

There were some plays that developed and I basically anticipated a wide shot... and it kept hold on the play in the corner.

As far as trailers-- I only saw that when the Lotto numbers were flashed on screen.

That was my issue last night too. I felt like they were trying too hard to use the angles from in the corners and whatnot, but half the time the puck would be off the screen and they would switch cameras too late.

No, outside the Chicago area it's not "good ol number 9" but WGN America, which shows all sports but the Hawks.

I know we've all gone over this since the O boards days, but its the NHL's national contracts as to why the Hawks can't be on WGN America, not the Hawks or WGN.



With that said I see no problem with WGN aligning different programming for WGN America, and put the Hawks on with the same reach as Comcast, ESPECIALLY if they are using the same production company. I don't even think the NHL would object to that.

BTW, the PHX feed was crystal clear, except for the fact that we had to hear Tyson Nash commentary.

I didn't even realize the game was on WGN since the PHX HD feed was on the package!

Yotes guys called a decent game even talked about hockey players on the ice during whistle stoppages and not about random old ladies in Nevada who have a cat collection. Although the Yotes guys aren't without their flaws they get a pass being from the desert and calling a team not many people care about. As for dumb and dumber on WGN I am amazed how many names they get wrong and how Eddie O seems to have to teach hockey 101 to a fan base that probably knows the game better than he does even though he played it.



I am going to place my active stick right around the time and space btw Eddie O's ears. And i hope all the kids out there are watching.

I actually think that the only redeeming thing Eddie does is when he does his little teaching tangents. BUT... all too often he seems to do them at the wrong times and it gets in the way of calling the game, and they all seem to be pretty similar now a days. Like 3 out of 10 of them are stopping the tape to show that a player didn't have his stick on the ice, and 2 out of 10 are to show bad back checking. It's like he doesn't see other things on the ice that he can rant about. Or he has them pre written and just waits for the time they happen.



Either way, I'll still take his instructional video if it shuts foley up from saying TREE TIRDY TREE.... Can we put a fund together to get Foley into a rehab or a 12 step? Anything to get him out of the booth for a bit. We know it's the Foley-Edzo combination because when Steve is in there Foley doesn't attempt half the shit. I wouldn't mind seeing how Wideman does with Konroyd... I have nothing against Murry and they are the best, I'm just curious if Steve is worth a shit or if Foley just makes him look that good.
