I think that the fact that Jesse Rogers is an idiot attracts me to read what he says just so I can laugh at it.

In his grades it was like he was afraid to give out an F. And how he gave Seabs an A without a solid reason was kind of stupid.

I guess, but reading jesse rogers for hockey info is almost as useless as listening to Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh for politics...ALMOST

Now you got me thinking about Lewis Black's Glenn Beck Nazi Tourettes bit .... stop that ... :D

As a casual Blackhawk fan, and with limited knowledge of the ins and outs of the game, it was a nice piece to read :dunno:

Yeah, Jesse is fine.

Yes he's up the Hawks' ass too far to be really objective, but he's not alone in that respect. I still think that particular perspective is worth a glance along with the differing views that are out there.

As for his player grades...

-Crawford getting a C- is generous
-Bowman can have an F
-He's a little harsh on Leddy. His deficiencies are a result of managmenet/coaching decisions.
-Kruger's B+ and Stalberg's A- are clearly based on expectations more than actual performance. That's not really how grading works, but whatever.
-Bickell is still an enigma to me. Why he doesn't bring the effort we saw late this year all the time makes zero sense to me. It's not like he already has a fat contract (or even a concrete roster spot)... he needs to play to impress every night, yet he doesn't.

Ah shit, I missed the obvious.

So Bowman gets an F.

Guess that means he'll have to have dad sign his report card.

And the fact that he brought a lot of intensity late last year too baffles me. If he can turn it on in the last month and the playoffs why can't he do that for a whole year? Or at least a larger portion of the year...

Bickell being good makes the Hawks a lot better. Adds grit and makes the 4th line really good with Mayers having a nice season.

Jesse's obvious man-love for Byfuglien and Versteeg is what annoys me about him. He's so quick to bring up those names in Twitter comments and his articles.

Not total garbage as a writer, but sometimes he's too much of a fan and not enough of a journalist.

As for his grades ...

BMo and Bruno deserves Fs, I think.
Hjalmarsson is a C at best.
Agreed with EDIB on Leddy, that's a harsh grade. B-, methinks.
I thought Lepisto played better than a C-, I still don't understand why Q scratched him so often. Not a top-4 guy at all but a decent 5/6 guy, I thought.
If Bowman gets a D+, no way Q deserves a C. Those two each had brutal seasons. Although I do agree with his point about a good draft class saving Bowman from an F.

Joe, you still haven't answered the question, you asked if he meant as far as players, you were answered, and then you don't post?

1) stop being a frontrunner. try something new and stop copying what other people say about joe. you ruined the stalberg shit, you are wearing this out as well.

2) why is it I see in your sig hartford whalers, and winnipeg jets logos? shouldnt you learn more about your chicago team first before venturing out into territory that you know nothing about?

so tbo, who do you suggest to read?

he doesnt know. he really only reads guys that cover all the teams like mac and what not.

In chicago:
Tim Sassone
Barry Rozner
Jay Zawaski

the last 2 are on the score now and again. most of them write with much critique when it comes to the hawks.

Sassone is the best beat writer.

There are some pretty good bloggers out there. I personally like 2nd city hockey.

Otherwise, I really don't read much on the Hawks.

There's a solid community of real good Hawks' blogs, with those guys at the top of the list.

Don't know if any other teams in Chicago have similar blogs but I can't say I've looked, either.

Tracey Myers is good at providing a non-biased look at the Hawks, but I don't think she goes too deep into the team's tougher issues. Ditto on Adam Jahns. Al Cimaglia over at FOX Chicago likes to write real long posts that try to weave into the front office mess.

The guys Dews listed are good, too. Sassone just had a health issue that had him in the hospital for the final few months of the season, but I think he's supposed to be back on the beat this fall.

Basically, Jesse Rogers is at the bottom of the barrel, imo, for Hawks coverage. Lots of other (and better) sources out there.

Who is mac?

I read Sassone all the time before he got sick. Is he writing again?

Zawaski is a blogger even though you think he is a genius

Sassone was out of the hospital during the playoffs and I believe he made an appearance in the press box at some point. Foley mentioned it on the air. Don't know if he started writing again, though.

Mac probably prefers to Dan MacNeil, another on-air Score talent. Always thought he was a huge asshole and can't stand listening to the guy.
