I think Penner, Stoll and Fraser (to a much, much lesser extent) are the only UFAs on that team and they have something like 17 mill under the cap for next year. They could resign all three of those guys and STILL have the money to go pick up Parise or Suter.

Jesus...

Im sure alot of those big guys (Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, etc) have bonuses which will kick in when they win the cup, but it shouldnt be more than 4-5 mil

they are in good cap space position it looks like.

plus the salary cap MIGHT go up next year (depending on the CBA talks)

Parse, Fraser, Stoll, Penner are UFAs, King is an RFA.

They can't go too crazy, though, because Quick's $1.8 million contract expires next season and he's going to be due for a HUGE raise.

if they let quick go, which they may at the deadline because they do indeed have a nice starter waiting in the wings. he will get the premier goalie money and it may not be worth it if you cannot supply the rest of the roster with talent.

Kings are basically the 2010 Flyers. Except this time they have Frazzle Dazzle. And that's why they're winning. :troll:

I think the depth on both of these teams is really good. Until last night, the Devils top 6 hadn't scored a goal. And yet they were still in all those games.

Fraser fucking scored.

Both teams have great fourth lines that help score some goals. That's one of the reasons that they're in the cup finals and the Hawks aren't. You have to have depth because sometimes the stars aren't going to be able to score.

Those bonuses (if they are there) would not count against the cap though. I believe the only reason the Blackhawks were screwed by the bonuses was because they were to players on ELC.

So you're saying that the Hawks shouldn't go after Quick if they have the chance?

The thing that kills me is that we could have had Kopitar in a draft. Instead we got Skille.

Could've had Quick in another draft.

Those old drafts when the Hawks sucked dick really hurt the current thing. The Kopitar thing I'm not as upset about though because then the Hawks probably wouldn't have drafted Toews. But the chance to have Quick. GAHHH

will he break the goaltender contract record? he could.

different scenarios for the hawks and kings. the hawks dont have a goalie and the kings have 2. if im the kings i let quick go. if im the hawks i try to get him. if the kings didnt have 2 goalies than id say keep him on the kings.

You wouldn't have had to worry about Kopitar in a Hawks uni, had they drafted him & not Jack Skill-less.

i think its the carter connection that makes him think that. its an illusion imo

Completely. The Kings underperformed like mad (aka couldn't score a lick) to earn that 8th seed.

That's all I'm saying. Because the Hawks really need the goalie help.

Yeah well, the Bears could've drafted Joe Montana, right? Not sure what the point of self-flagellation is ...obviously a MMV situation.

And 4th lines are for checking ... not scoring... (unless you are meaning the Hawks' choices -which has been traditionally a bit schizo -and really end up fitting no purpose whatsoever.
