Things like this build chemistry off the ice, and when you are building chemistry off the ice, eventually it translate on the ice.
Look at Kopecky and Hossa... off the ice they are very good friends, on the ice they are very good linemates.
Every championship team I have been on, the guys were always together off the ice. They need to develop a personal relationship with each of their teammates in order to not only play with emotion but to find each other on the ice and talk. Without that communication, the player with the most talent in the world can easily be reduced to an AHL all-star.
