I heard Foley went on a rant about Versteeg tonight. Anyone have the scoop on what was said?

About stealing credit for TVR's goal last year.

It was during this game, http://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/en/recap?id=2014020216 the first goal of the game when Toews won the draw TVR shot and scored, but Versteeg claimed to have deflected it and after announcing it was TVRs they changed it a bit later and they said the replays weren't really looking like Kris deflected it at all, The puck doesn't really adjust or shift past him.

I guess he was pissed that Versteeg didn't go to someone and tell them to take a second look because he didn't touch the puck on TVR's shot? Thought it was a little strange myself.

Didn't give him the full Karpovtsev treatment but it wasn't a pat on the back, either.

No, it wasn't the full Potsie, but he's most definitely been sitting on that rant for quite a while. All I can surmise is that rapper boy had the puck just barely nick his blade, which wouldn't necessarily cause a visible change of direction...so he decided to fight for the goal. If that was indeed the case, I can somewhat understand his claim, whilst understanding others not buying it.

It's entirely possible that Versteeg was looking to make some incentive bonuses - like the one where you score like 15 goals and get a free snow cone. I don't know if he made it though.

I don't think his consistent production will be missed again this time either.

Actually if he does win the Calder it would damage the Hawks because that's probably part of his contract Bonus's that would raise his caphit next season.

Don't worry, they'll never give that award to a Russian over a Canadian.

That is correct. It would actually raise his cap hit for this year, but the Blackhawks can defer some of the cap hit until next year if they need to (which they likely would need to).
