There's a saying that I've heard Michael Wilbon say... that every team needs to go through the heartbreak in order to win the title. Jordan went through it, Kobe needed shaq, Wade needed Shaq, LeBron went through it... and it looks like the Bulls are going through it.
This team will be back next season. A few upgrades must happen though.
History was always against us in the regard to experience as a team. The same could be said for Miami though (Their individual players have experience, but as a unit they had none). And beyond the talent that is LeBron-Wade-Bosh, their experience outweighed anything the Bulls had. Wade had won a title, LeBron had been to the Finals, while the starter on our team with the most experience was Carlos Boozer who went to the Conference Finals in 2007, pretty much only because Golden State, an 8 seed, beat Dallas in the first round. Deng was next with a second round appearance in 2007. The guy with the most experience on our team was Brian Scalabrine.
The regular season MVP hasn't won a title in years, the coach of the year has been much the same.
Either way, I thought this was our best chance to win it this year. The pending lockout will change the structure of the NBA and the structure of how teams are built. Not to say we wont be back here, but its hard to say what our team will become with a hard salary cap. Rose is up for an extension, but I find no way we can pay Noah, Boozer, Deng, and Rose and keep them all as a core, and at the same time find a starting shooting guard.
