I've only taken a quarter-and-a-half of German so far.

Anyway, is there a way to see who's winning the voting?

Ah well then this verb will come in handy...

saugen (actually there is a little book out there that if one is of the "correct" mentality that you might find useful -or it might get you in to trouble ... but it is still kind of funny).

It's called "Scheisse: (something like) Everything they wouldn't teach you in German class.
______

Ok- aside from all that ... Interesting -I think I am going to sit out voting, as I think I decided that I hate the All Star Game --- it used to get guys here really excited (well guys that were in to hockey) .... and I mean 12-9 scores in games aren't really my thing unless it is the odd one in the regular season.

Duncs doesn't deserve to go. Lidstrom has outplayed his ass by a ton.

Well Goulet got elected to the Hall of Fame for a reason .... as a Left Wing you could do a hell of a lot worse. There isn't a LW playing in a long time that could even dream of sniffing Goulet's jock.... certainly not any of these "ooh look at me I average a point a game -put me in the Hall of Fame jerk offs that guys get all engorged over nowadays..").

I was at a game against the Nordiques when Goulet scored on Bannerman from the redline (which tells you all you need to know about Bannerman ...).

As for Bernie ... well, when Cindy scores 70 in a season I suppose we can talk about it ... but until then -- I doubt there is a Centre on the ballot that is better than old Bernie (and Bernie wasn't even the best Centre of his era ... personally -aside from the obvious ones .. I really liked the Stastny line in Quebec.).

Ok, anyways- personally I'd go with Cam Neely on RW over Brett Hull ... with Chelios at RD - dunno at LD -make it Paul Coffey even though it would be a little light on the actual checking department. . . Gretzky at Centre with Goulet on LW ... Roy in net.

Fully agree, Duncan has not even been the best defensemen on this team thus far into the season.

Lidstrom has been the best player over the last 2 decades in the NHL and is still as good as he was 10 years ago. At this point I would give Lidstrom his 1000th Norris for the season.

All time Hockey team...

D: Bobby Orr
D: Viacheslav Fetisov
C: Mario Lemieux
RW: Maurice Richard
LW: Bobby Hull
G: Vladislav Tretiak

Also weather Sidney Crosby ever even reaches 50 goals again in a season does not matter. If he stays healthy he will retire as one of the 10-15 greatest players to have ever played the game. He is the most complete player in the NHL today and dominates shift to shift like no one else. He is on pace every year for 120+ points and his wings are 3rd or 4th liners on most teams (because all there money is tied up in Malkin, Sid, Staal, and Flower). If Sid played with better linemates he could consistently put up 160 points a year.

Captain of the Habs, the most die hard fans of any sport on earth... not surprised. Also the reason Cary Price is leading Tim Thomas in votes for net.

Maybe you're right - but I was going for an over all decade type of theme instead of all-time anything.

I don't think Syd is that great all -around, but he can score, and dive and cry to the officials (which is exactly the reason I hated Gretzky). But then again when you are playing on a team that averaged over 5 goals a game for the entire season that indicates a lot of firepower. The Oilers never got back to that threshold after 99 was traded. Meaning I think Syd is suspect defensively ... and looks prone to cherry-picking.

Hey Cam made my Hockey News pool team one year - I think I had gotten up to #640 something out of I think 13000 entrants or something because I picked him up the season he was on a goal a game or more pace ... plus I have a bias to power forwards in general - especially ones that Vancouver gave up for a used up player (I think Barry Pederson)...

Besides I was just talking about a forward line ... I always want a power forward on a line ... I imagine Hull works on the 2nd or 3rd line ... with maybe Robitaille and Messier. Yes 66 is in there -but not sure who with at this point ... probably Larmer playing LW (one timers) and Tim Kerr (net screening and some damned good hands for rebounds)on RW ... then come up with a checking line probably with Guy Carbonneau and a couple of other guys I've yet to work out ... as this is just off the top of my head.

I am not even a Sidney Crosby fan and I am not going to disagree that before last season he was the biggest diver and whiner in the NHL, but ever since last season Sid has grown out of that. Not to defend how he use to act but when you're an 18 year old kid and pretty much the highest touted prospect in the history of the sport and the expectations are so high for him I understand why he acted like he did.

As far as his play in his own end I don't know what you're watching, he is always in perfect position and even though he is not as visible because he does not play physical he is great and very reliable defensively. Think of Zach Parise... another great very reliable defensive forward but is not recognized as much for it because he is not physical and is more known for scoring.

In today's NHL (with shorter shifts and the ice time being spread to the entire team these days) his 120+ point per season pace every season is so impressive... really impressive considering his linemates pretty much every season. Like I said give him even half decent players to line with and he would net 160+ points every season.

Also watching Sid every shift he has he dominates and dictates the play, most consistent player I have seen in recent memory. I mean a player like Ovechkin is a more dominant offensive player but he is not as complete a player or as defensively reliable as Sid.

I hate the Pens, I am not a real fan of Sid but no doubt if he remains healthy he is in at least the top 15 players ever... his talent is undeniable.
