So, you ignored all of the range stats? Seems right
Lol I didn’t ignore anything…so he has great range, when he gets to the spot he is still fucking up and making errors

youre ignoring the facts

again, he has a NEGATIVE defensive WAR, not sure why you are choosing to die on the hill of “wisdom is a great defender,” but go ahead. It’s great he has quick feet that allows him to have a great range, but he’s still nothing more than an average fielder

Not really. Someone was harping on wisdom being a GG caliber third baseman. I and many others on here disagreed at the time, and since he has played rather poorly in the field.

Take that for what you will, but the numbers back this up
"gold glove contender" is a relative term. I interpret as meaning being a top 10 defensive player at his position. Right now he is ranked 15th, after a flurry of bad defensive games.

You interpret it differently than me. It is stupid to argue relative metrics with people online. Leave my interpretation alone and I'll leave yours alone. Pretty simple to do bud.

Lmao ummm leave your “interpretation” alone, as if this isn’t a sports message board where people debate/discuss/argue sports.

If you don’t want anyone to comment on your “interpretations,” maybe dont post them on a sports message board then

Wisdom is an average to slightly above average defender. He’s not GG caliber

I am just saying it is stupid to argue relative interpretations. And you seem to constantly do that. Keep doing it all you want, but I won't. I don't like doing stupid shit, lol.

I think you’ve taken a quite poor interpretation of what I’ve been saying then

Cubs playing solid baseball lately.

9 for their last 14. Won last 4 series. Lost series to Pirates but won series with Braves. Dodgers up next.

Let me see if I have this right. You gave a very generous description of “gold glove contender” in which you include a full 1/3 of the leagues third baseman implying that that makes your statement correct that wisdom is a gold glove contender.

Then you casually drop in the fact that he’s nowhere near the top 10 he is in fact 15th which is in the middle of the pack.

So to contend that he is a gold glove contender you are essentially saying that at least half the league is a gold glove contender.

Generous to say the least.

Nah, I said he was a contender last year, when at the time he was ranked 5th in the NL. Knoxville is just bringing up old shit because he has no life.

I know they aren’t good but I’m getting dragged back in. Happens every year

They need to get back to some serious losing.....this weekend should bring them back down to earth. Dumping the trash at the deadline will help out as well.

Well, dumping the non-trash that is.

It is going to be hard. Suzuki came back on fire. As long as the SP doesn't implode the are going to keep it close.

Lets see:

Stroman starting on Sat.
Contreras should be back for this series.
Madrigal is at Iowa on a rehab.
Smyly pitched 4 innings on July 4th. Will do a bullpen and determine if he needs another rehab or start.
Hendricks expected back post ASG.

So they are getting healthy right now. The result on the field has a bit to do with this. As they start to get to 100% then a determination should be made. This could go down to the final week for Jed to decide. 34-49 right now. 18 games left to make a decision. At best they go 10-8. 44-57. It would be too late to make a add so subtract is the natural choice. They some how keep a 70% win rate up 48-53. That makes it a tough choice. But I still see Jed selling off but it could be a mistake at that point as the momentum is pushing the Cubs into the wild card chase.

So they would have to be running 70% win until Aug for Jed to even entertain the idea. It could happen with a full strength team that is performing to their career avg.

July:
Happ .300/.344/.433 Pretty much the hot item in a trade.
Hoerner .231/.286/.269
Wisdom .200/.355/.360.
Morel .190/.346/.571
Ortega .263/.417/.421
Velazuez .211/.250/.474
Gomes .111/.111/.111
Rivas .333/.400/.389
Contreras .133/.316/.133
Suzuki .385/.429/.923 Like I said. Boost come from him.
Higgins .273/.385/.455

About it. Seiya returning has put them into this convo but the odds are against them.

Jed should be selling no matter what. Even if they are in the WC discussion. They aren’t competing for shit next couple of years. I think you take the haul from Willson and fully begin the 3-5 year rebuild.

Cubs have some exciting prospects let’s add some more. When KB, Javy, Rizzo, Schwarber were coming into the league that was fun as hell, let’s do it again

Jed would be smarter to trade Happ. He has 2 OF that might end up on the top 100 and Suzuki. He can sell from depth. Contreras in all reality Jed should resign. He will not be able to replace him during Wilsons next deal.

It is a good thing that the Dodgers have put things back into perspective. Cubs are back in the bottom 5. Plus Morel showed some 2B skills. Over all a good series.

What is really sad is the White Sox let Rodon go. Rodon is looking at a all star bid while the Sox are under .500.

Makes you wonder who will end up more disappointing.

Last Cubs run or this Sox run.

Our "gold glove caliber" third baseman just nonchalantly side-armed a throw to first with two out s and bases loaded.

Our hack "first baseman of the day" played it like a blind fifth grader.

It has led to 4 Dodgers runs to give them the lead, and the inning isn't over.

Should be a 3 run Cubs lead, but they trail.

I don't care how many HRs you hit, bad D KILLS.
