I was yapping with Pops about this as we were watching a show on trucks on the Hitler Channel.

What state has the most trucks per capita? I tried googling it, but I couldnt find an exact answer.

I would think Texas does. They like their trucks there. Even in the cities. Which also brings me to the other point that you don't see many trucks in cities. So any state with big cities the trucks per capita probably goes down.

Montana would be in the running I think too. Not many large cities there. And with an average of 6 people per square mile.

So even if someone finds the answer, I think this is a fun mindless thing to think about. feel free to chime in.

And remember SUVs are considered light trucks.

I was going to answer that it depends on what your definition of "truck" is.

I would go with your standard pick up truck. Ford F150 or what have you.

Jacksonville is the largest city in the USA (land area), 14th most populous .....and there are a shit-ton of trucks here. Granted, we are a redneck city for the most part. There are plenty of trucks in Tampa, Orlando and Miami. I guess we are a redneck state, come to think of it.

Oh yeah, south and trucks are hand in hand. I was thinking more like the big 3. New York, Chicago, LA. I know I don't see many pick up trucks in Chicago proper. There are a decent amount in the burbs.

In my travels to Chicago and NY, I don't see many, you are right. Those which I do see usually have a plow on the front. In L.A. I see plenty (insert Mexican jokes here). It may have something to do with rear-wheel drive and just plain dangerous in the snow.

I said state. But states with large cities may skew the numbers a bit, no?

I would guess that your answer of TX is correct. You can't pull a horse/cattle trailer with a Prius.

With states like Texas and California as most of the population is in city centers and there are not a ton of trucks in those city centers from my experience. I do wonder about a states like Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Minnesota, or Wisconsin because of the distribution of population. Idaho would be my top on that list for that reason.

Pick-ups, I'd guess Texas. Large population, lots of agriculture, ranching, oil fields ect.... Everyone seems to have one. I thought the beginnning of the thread was talking aboot big rigs/semis/tractor trtailers ect....

Who knows how accurate this is. From ask.com

Q: What state has the most pickup truck

A: Texas has the highest per capita number of trucks. According to the Killeen Daily Herald, one in four Texans own a pick-up truck. They are also one of the highest contributors to air pollution.

Ford F-150 seems to be far and away the best selling truck... probably of all time. Chevy Silverado is next. Then Dodge Ram.

I had seen that as well. I find it interesting. Texas with its huge square footage and such makes sense.

I would think that a state such as Minnesota would have a lot of trucks/SUV's because of the snow they get. Texas I'm sure takes the pick-up trophy but what state would take the SUV one?
