EA's lawsuit settlement dictates the company will not re-up their current deal with the NCAA. We've been seeing bad signs for a while now.

So I'm guessing after their deal is up no more College Football games from EA Sports?...

From Kotaku's article on the EA lawsuit:

The settlement's most notable restriction is a five-year ban on any exclusive license between EA Sports and the NCAA, once their current pact expires in 2014. But this has little real effect, as the last NCAA football video game published by someone other than EA Sports was Sega's College Football 2K3 a decade ago.

Well it was put on XBLA, Virtual Console, and Steam, and was included in that Ultimate Genesis Collection. But as to why the series isn't still alive, I don't know. A sequel to the Dreamcast/PS2 reboot was cancelled a long time ago and that's the last we've heard.

Cliffyb tweeted a while back "where's my Ecco the Dolphin reboot?" so maybe he'll want to tackle something like that.
