Another disappointing game by the bats so far....

When Heyward .273 is the best Avg. by an everyday player after 10 games, their in trouble...

Might be time for Maddon to shake the lineup up a little and play Almora 6/12 .500 and or Jay 5/15 .333 a little more til some of these bats get going...

Do they keep both and put another reliever on DL

Most likely Rondon. He had a minor injury covering home plate a few days back. He is the most likely. I doubt they will lose depth yet. This is pretty much expected. Guys get injuries all of the time and they can juggle the DL all season if needed to keep Szczur on the roster.

Baez is hitting .217 right now. Almora should e getting more starts though. 13 AB's and 6 hits. You really need to see what you have with him. The problem is they are trying to get Baez and Zo in too much with Heyward in CF vs letting Albert get his AB's in. At this point they should let Baez rotate between Bryant/Russell/Rizzo/Zobrist to keep his AB's up and give those guys days off while letting Jay rotate through Schwarber/Almora/Heyward. The season is a marathon and this keeps them healthier over it.

Szczur and LaStella should be the primary PH's.

That is the only fault I'm seeing from Joe early season. He is getting away from his rotations and is favoring players getting time.

Baez may be struggling with bat but at least he gives them defense at 2B and be hits at bottom of order..

Zobrist not a world beater defensively and struggling in 4 hole with bat...


Maddon needs to just stick with a lineup for a few games and let them get a rhythm going, instead of bouncing around between Baez Zobrist Heyward Almora and Jay every day..

Duensing, who signed a one-year deal with the Cubs this offseason, was activated off the 10-day disabled list Friday after dealing with lower back tightness during Spring Training. He replaced right-hander Carl Edwards Jr., who was placed on the bereavement list.
