Got hurt in Rockford last night and is out with an upper-body injury.

I think this pretty much guarantees he won't be jumping up to join the Hawks again this year.

Yeah, I was starting to get the impression that he wasn't gonna be used in the playoffs, period. Even if he had seen some time though, it would've been extremely sheltered. Regardless, I suppose it can only serve as extra motivation going into next year -- as if he needed any more.

Honestly, I wasn't as impressed as others were with JVR. I mean he didn't do anything terrible, but he didn't do anything really good either. Seemed like just another 6th/7th defensemen who is forgettable.

Lazerus just said on Waddle and Silvie the Hawks are hoping he'll be ready for the 2nd rnd of the POs.

There's no way they're just gonna throw him out there in the middle of the playoffs.

Kaner is an obvious exception.

Well Toronto seems to want to hold onto him... oh wait.

That's exactly what he was, and what the Hawks lacked especially early in the season before Rundblad was at least demonstrably decent when paired with Keith and when Rozy, Clenny, and Dahlbeck were looking lost and outplayed in the D zone every game they played.

I think Kimo has taken that role well and some people have been down on how he's played so far but he's basically replaced what Trevor brought and still there is that lingering idea that you know what history Kimo has as a player mentally and physically so if he can get back up a bit to speed he may actually bring more.

Isn't that what a 5/6/7th defenseman should be? Nothing bad and nothing special, unnoticeable.

No definitely but some of the posts I see here make it sound like the kid was the second coming.

Which is good news. He likely won't be tossed into a playoff game unless injuries force the hand of Q. However, just him being around the team, practicing with them, seeing how the players prepare for a game/series, etc during the playoffs can certainly go a long way in preparing him for next year and the future.

Not the second coming, but even being Jordan Hendry-level invisible and not screwing up in your own end is a fuckton better than the complete partial birth abortion that Rosival was last playoffs and early on this year.

Again, just never understood the big deal about TVR. Come playoffs, I'd rather have Rozy or Timonen play the 5th/6th spot.
