I think its the defensive position itself Trev that has people excited. Never a bad thing when a young blueliner shows some of the parts to the game that TVR showed. Less about skill more so about maturity and caution which is what TVR showed. Still hard to gage seeing the pool sample of games probably wasnt enough but for the games we do have to gage him on he did show a level of maturity in a young blueliner that was promising. I dont think anyone was labeling him the second coming of anything but simply a young kid that looked like he was willing to go through the grooming process without having a hissy fit about his ice minutes and a lot of other things some young players get all worked up about due to ego. Im sure as the season moved a long he would have had his bumps and his benchings. Would have been interesting to see how he reacted to those. Its always fun to watch new young players hit a roster in my opinion so that too was an exciting part of it all as a fan.

Again, just never understood the big deal about TVR. Come playoffs, I'd rather have Rozy or Timonen play the 5th/6th spot.

It's less about "What's the big deal about TVR?" and more about, "Christ, Allah, and Odin, remember what a complete liability Rosival was in the playoffs last year?" For the 5/6 pairing you gotta be able to expecnt them to soak up a few minutes a night and not shoot themselves in the foot when they're out there--something Rosival proved incapable of last year (Q's outright refusal to play Brookbank who was at the time better than Rosival surely didn't help matters).

The 'hawks essentially need a #7 (and possible a #8) if the guy slotted 5 or 6 turns out to be a liability. I have no problem with Timonen in there and have no problems with Rosival starting as long as the leash is shorter than Regis' hair. I think Runblad will be a decent #7, but without TVR@ 8, who do we turn to if both Rosie and Timonen look like Cullimore and Boynton?

As a #8? Well Pokka, Johns and Comiskey will more than likely play on the Black Aces once Rockford is done. Really plenty of options, just which one is more ready? My guess, probably Comiskey as he has more experience.

Exactly...but if VanReimsLesbian is healthy and ready he should probaby vet the 1st nod. He's looked better than most of the 'hawks depth Dmen as well as Rosival.

TVR's injury was to his right wrist. Had surgery today. Out 8 weeks.

See ya next year, kid.

Hawks just announced this via Twitter.

i don't think people were saying TVR is a top 4 Defenseman on this team. The hype was more how well polished he was for such a young dman. he was very reliable in his first couple months in the NHL. more than Rosie or Runblad have been any game this season.

With a full season under his belt, he would have a been a great replacement for either of those guys in the post season. But missing most of the season with a broken leg probably meant he wouldn't be a good playoff dman.

I think this wrist injury is more detrimental to his psyche. Tough to overcome two major injuries so earlier in an NHL career.

Well....that's not saying much though because Rozie probably shouldn't be in the league right now. And Rundblad probably won't be not too long after this season.

Yeah it was the same case with Handzus last year. Hopefully Timonen has....something left for the playoffs.

Timonen took a hit along the boards yesterday and did not return to play.

With Rozy's corpse rigor mortis convulses and gas acting up, what is the eligibility of TVR? Injury status?

Does that mean Runblaad is on the playoff roster, and what is the issue with Versteeg?

The issue with Versteeg is that Versteeg sucks.

(His injury is not severe, also).

Rundblad is on the playoff roster but likely only going to play in the event of an injury.
