Regardless I do stand by what I said. Jed is not required to deal right now.
SP:
Hendricks
Stroman
Smyly
Mills
Steele
This is the most likely rotation. Thompson could bump Mills off but it is not likely with David's history.
Pen:
Chavez
Thompson
Wick
Robinson
Givens
Norris
Effross
Roberts
(seems like the most likely)
Pitching wise this squad will never be a contender running Hendricks out as the ace. I see this as Jed will not invest into a real ace and will have to self develop one. He will sign tier 2 starters as he did with Marcus and Darvish. But a major investment? No. Lester happened and I just don't see Jed making a play like that again. Not to mention Jon had history with Theo. Jed tends to be the value type of investor.
Now internally he has Marquez whom has ace level stuff. Kilian projects as a #3. Wicks slots up there also. Hertz is more of a gamble but has nasty strike out stuff. So they have 4 plus arms pushing into AA-AAA. Next year at this time we could be looking at
Stroman
Marquez
Kilian
Wicks
Hendricks
I feel that Kyle's drop off is real. Going from a mid 3 FIP to 5 is something that can not be ignored. 7.5 K/9 to 6.5 BB/9 worst year 2.19. Worst BABIP. Which means harder contact. The signs are showing regression and at 32 now it is far more likely that it will keep regressing.
