Vertigo can be caused by many things. Ear infection, the crystals in your inner ear floating, a neck injury (all you need is one C vertebrae to go off and you got it), a blow to the head.....Pretty tough to play hockey when the world is literally spinning around you.

He missed one game, it is somewhat expected at this point. Also he is so good when he's in the lineup that it tough to get that worked up. The Pens sat Malkin for 2 games just based on the fact that he was sore and more prone to a real injury.

Still sitting him out as of tonight's game too. SUCKS. I love Geno and he busted his ass during recovery with a goal to come back better than ever from that one-two clusterfuck of torn ACL and MCL tandem. Four games in an he started feeling some discomfort but I agree with how the PIT is handling it in that it is better to be safe and perhaps suffer offensively now than franchise future sorry. They've been decimated by injuries so early---obviously missing Crosby, now Geno, Orpik, and a few others.

Not sure why the team cannot just say what happened. NHL Network ticker had it as an upper body injury.

It seemed like it happened in the WPG game. I noticed him go into the locker room-- and a few shifts later, he was back on the ice.

It's an NHL thing. They never do. They use the excuse of other teams targeting the injury after the return. Most think it's a BS excuse.

I just threw the vertigo out there knowing at some point last year that was an issue.

Let me be the first to take this far off topic.

I was about to ask that question.

I see no players targeting a certain injury.

That's the iffy part. If it's your leg, wrist, some where you have contact all the time, I see they could. If you have a concussion they are not supposed to be targeting your head so why would it matter? It shouldn't.

I could certainly see players target some types of injuries. Use Kane and his wrist as example. You don't think the Canucks would have gone after slashing at his wrist in the first round had they known? That's the gray area IMO.

With HIPPA it is not required for anybody or entity to disclose any health information publicly (some specific entities cannot disclose it at all). The fact that the NHL even provides a location of "injury" is probably so it seems less conspicuous.

It is IMO! There would be blood-seeking NFL fan mobs in every market if their franchise's players injuries weren't disclosed to explain why they are missing games.

Yea Kennedy is out as well now. Malkin is sitting yet again tonight but I saw somewhere is probably for Thursday against the Habs. It sucks ass for me cause he was my 1st round pick, which I really wasn't considering much of a risk when I saw a positive report everywhere I looked, good pre-season and he was confident in interviews. If it keeps up til late October I'll be dealing one of my top 3 goalies for a damn good center.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if PIT decides to give Geno rest scratch days on the regular like say every 5th or so game to ensure that knee holds up all season and is basically good to go condition-wise for the post-season. That was a particularly nasty amount of damage he had to have operate on and rehab.

Sam Fels over at SCH conjectures it may be a muscle problem of some sort in their new GDT. Seems plausible to me based on the very limited info we've had to go on with the timeline of events we do know of.

Let's start with the men in white tonight. The "Where's Marian" children's book is in full effect, as he's once again a game time decision. He says it's based on how he feels a few hours after the morning skate, which leads one to believe it's a pulled or strained muscle of some kind.
