How bad (or good) do think the Bears will be this year?

I've looked at several season previews and several 2016 Mocks already, and a lot of people have the Bears pick 3-5 in the draft next year and have us as the 29th or 28th best team next year. There were teams like the Jags, Jets, and 49ers ranked ahead of them. Do you guys think the Bears will really be that bad this year? I honestly think we have a decent team, but I'm also always an optimist in this part of the year.

What's decent about the team?

-We have the flakiest QB this side of Jeff George
-Our defense is one of the worst in the NFL
-We have a mediocre head coach.
-Our offensive line is below average
-We have a zillion LBs and none are proven
-Our special teams are not good outside of our FG kicker
-We have zero depth so injuries will kill us.

5-11

Bears will be better than many think but still not a playoff team unless we get lucky with injuries.

yep, and they have a pretty rough schedule this coming year too, especially to begin the season. itll be tough for all these new players and coaches to gel right away and start the season well against that schedule. IMO they scream an 8 - 8 team right now...but like you said theres so many things that can/will happen between now and the season opener

those two somewhat contradict eachother. but I get where you are coming from. I think our O line is above average but that's just my opinion. and the coaching staff will be a plus for this team

I look at it this way.

How good of a coach was Lovie Smith? The Bears were an average to an above average team with a crappy offense and a good defense for most of the years he was coach. Was it the coaching or the players that gave us a good defense? Or was it both? We had 4 probowl players in their prime on defense in 2010-2011. Urlacher, Briggs, Peanut and Peppers.

Now back to this year. We have better weapons on offense than we did in 2010. Marshall wasn't there yet and either was Jeffrey. Forte was younger though. We have better offensive coaches this year so the offense should be better. But the defense, even with Fangio who IMO is even better than Lovie defense, does not have the same play makers. The defense is not as good. But we do have Fuller, McPhee and a young NT.

Bottom line 8-8. Next year they can gel together and we should see the playoffs.

You bring up some good points. Like I said, I like to be an optimist this time of year. Remember when everyone was saying how bad the Cowboys were going to be last year?

While I want the team to succeed, I also want them to lose, so we can get a high draft pick again to select our next franchise quarterback. I'd say Bears go 6-10.

Bodies dont equal depth.

Slaussen and lLOng our terrific. Our tackles are below avergae and we have a rookie center and a back up center. That's a below average line

I think the D will be much, much better than some expect, even top 10 with Fangio calling the shots, and the O will show promise but will be stalled as often as not by incompetent QB play(unless Jay somehow isnt the guy under center), all of which will result in a season that ends somewhere around 8-8.

though it is possible that jay proves to be totally broken at this point, then 5 wins will be pushing it.

There were a ton of FG kickers in the league that had a better year than Gould last year.
I wouldn't even consider that position to be good at this point.
Let's hope he rebounds back to his former glory days when he was awesome.

I'm expecting a top 10-15 offense but sadly unless tucker was just that bad I don't see much improvement on the defense

they will win somewhere around 6 or 7 games
