How bad (or good) do think the Bears will be this year?

9-7 looking at the schedule.

Oh good, I am probably flying to Kansas City for that game, glad they are going to win. It's an all football weekend, TCU at Kansas State Saturday, Bears at Kansas City Sunday.

I do not have a clue how many wins we get. Probably less than ten and more than four. I just want to see us be competitive and have close games. I want to see the team amped up and excited to play. I hated last year how by the end of the first half the air had gone out of the team and it seemed like the players were resigned to losing, that shit pisses me off.

Looking at the schedule: 6-10. Defense was horrible, now must implement 3-4 scheme on top of that.
Offense--who knows? With Cutler still at QB, hard to be very optimistic

It is tough to predict how good teams will be. If everyone can not agree on how good the team we follow the closest will be, how can we accurately predict how good our opponents will be? Injuries, team chemistry, luck, it all can play a huge factor year to year in how good teams are. On paper, right now it looks like a challenging schedule but we also have some things on our side. We only play 1 team that is coming off a bye. We play 3 out of 4 at home to open. If you have to play Green Bay twice which we know we do, it is good to play them right away. They have shown to be slow out of the gate 3 years in a row.

The defense is going to be better. The question is how much better the defense is going to be.

We not only switched coaches and schemes, but also added 4 new certain starters (Pernell McPhee, Antrel Rolle, Mason Foster, Ray McDonald), and 3 new possible starters/rotational players (Sam Acho, Jarvis Jenkins, Eddie Goldman) on defense. That's a massive one-year shift in scheme and personnel.

It's hard to predict, but I'd bet we'll end up somewhere around 8-8. If Cutler can limit his turnovers (a very big if), this can be a playoff team, but, most likely, Cutty will be Cutty and we'll end up like 8-8.

*Sigh*.... Again with the oversensativity. Did I say he was the "worst" QB in the league? No. I simply said that the whole "he's the best QB the Bears have ever had" argument is dumb and proves nothing.

i believe you said he was a piece of shit.

i guess if you want to clarify, then say where you would rank him in the NFL. if to you, Cutler is the best of a really lame group of Chicago qbs, historically, then where would you put him? 15th? 25th? not 32nd. is he elite? no, because he makes stupid decisions, turns it over. elite qbs don't do that. he's above average, with flashes of greatness, and moments of horrific play. i guess that puts him top half, 16 or better? which, to me, means we could be a LOT WORSE. sure, i'd love Luck or Brees or Manning or Rodgers. hard to come by.

Definitely less than ten and hopefully more than four!

Yeah I did say that, because he is a piece of shit... He's the "best" piece of shit in the perverbial toliet bowl of Chicago Bears QB turds. Congrats.

You guys should definitely keep parroting that distinction on here like it somehow proves anything other than you guys being fucktards that somehow think being the "best Bears QB" is actually some amazing accomplishment worth bragging about.

Is he the worst QB in the league? No. He's simply a mediocre player that is being grossly overpaid and would have been cut long ago if he played on any other team in the league. Only in Chicago can a QB fail to meet expectations for 5 straight years and not only continue to be coddled and given zero competition but somehow get rewarded with a $126 mill 7 year deal. :bizarro:

Going into year 7 now and the excuses keep on coming from the apologists and fanboys. "This is the year" they say. Yup, only been hearing that for 7 years now but apparently this is going to be the year the light magically turns on and he stops making boneheaded mistakes.... And then when inevitably we're treated to the same rollercoaster ride of inconsistent sloppy play this year we'll get to hear the same old excuses yet again... "Oh, well it takes 3 years to learn a system so you guys just wait till 2017 man, that's when Jay is going to LIGHT IT UP!!!"

Sub .500 mainly because so many things are changing at once and Fox is taking the time to lay the foundation for future success. Next year they will have a better idea what they need and will be able to continue to purge more ugly contracts (Allen and Cutler).

I think they knew what they wanted to do this year but there was just no reasonable way possible to get what they were trying to get to at the QB position without making the same mistake the Redskins made for RG3. I already see at least 1 young QB with Cody Kessler among others, who will most likely enter the 2016 draft & be a very good fit at the QB position for the Bears. I like Kessler & think he's criminally underrated in spite of his pocket presence, excellent accuracy, good arm strength, efficiency, ability to go through his reads/progressions & hit the open man, very VERY limited mistakes/flaws in his game. IMO he's the perfect QB to go with the arsenal of weapons the Bears have. Kessler isn't a rocket armed QB but instead he has good arm strength with great accuracy & at this point, after both Grossman & Cutler who could both throw the ball 60 yards to the wrong team, I'd rather have the smart QB like Kessler who can throw the ball 40-50 yards on a dime with regularity, as well as anticipate his WR's reads.

I hope we don't go 7-9 which I think is best case scinerio. I do think tampa and the raiders have a chance at beating us this year. With the any given Sunday effect I put us at 4-12.

I hope the team turns around just from the coaching aspect but I wouldn't mind us taking a huge dive this year and getting us that QB next Christian Hackenburg.

I personally don't care where he fits in the history of the Bears. That was never really my point. I wasn't hammering that home. Yes, historically the Bears have had weak QBs. I give you that.

You say he is mediocre. How would you define that? I mean, part of the reason he's still here (besides the contract limitations) is that he's still our best option. SO, to me that means the following:

1. He's better than any of the FA QBs out there.
2. He's better than a lot of other starting QBs, we aren't pushing to trade for another QB.
3. He's better than just about any QB in the draft. Maybe Winston or Mariota are better, but I don't love them, and think it could take time for them to develop into really good QBs.

So, based on that, what was our other option? Is he overpaid? Probably. When you look at his results. He's very frustrating. I agree. Through how many coaches and offenses and regimes has he stunk, with flashes of Good Jay? But you can't put ALL of the Bears problems at Jay's feet. For a long time we had bad WRs. We've had a bad OL for a long time. And then our DEF started to fade. He had ONE really good year with Trestman and BM/AJ. And even that fell short.

I mean, would I like a top ten QB for the Bears? OF COURSE! How do we do that? Man, that's tough. Trade or draft, that's about it, right? We're stuck with Jay for another year or two, so deal with it. Maybe you wanted a QB this year, but a lot of people said it was a REALLY weak class. And I agree.

Next year though, I'm all in, Broc, with drafting the best QB we can get, and I'm cool with trading up if we have to do it. I doubt Jay puts it all together. But yeah, there's like a 5% chance that maybe this IS THE YEAR.

I'm about done with Jay, but for some reason part of me still roots for him. I guess because he's still our QB. I still root for the Bears, even when they disappoint me.

I've got them at 4-12 but for the life of me, I can't see a team that the Bears can beat.

I got 2-3 wins based on talent.

I got 4-5 wins at most of the coaches can get them to play above their talent level.

I got 6-7 (maybe 8) wins if they completely over-achieve across the board, get a lot of ref help, and catch a shit-ton of luck.

I have us 1-5 against the division.

I have Cutler at 3200 yards at best, 22-25 TD's and 18-21 INTS, 6 FL's.

I have the defense around 21st-24th (if Fangio coaches his ass off)

I have the offense at 18th-23rd.

I suspect that we will be drafting in the top 4-9 in 2016.

Ehh, the qb still has to play pretty solid to get you there. His WR's and OL were awful as well.

The common denominator is Cutler. Every year he sucks no matter good line or bad line or good WR or bad. At the end stop blaming everything around him that has been changed to suit him. 9 years and nothing to show. No probowl. The one he was in was a fill in role with Denver. After that zip. His only playoff victory was against an under .500 team. Fyi Rodgers has been sacked more and played with less talent cutler doesn't make wr look like probowler they make him look good. Sick and tired of treating him like he plays for the Cubs. There's always next year crap.

He is (maybe) our best option. But our best option in comparison to other starters is somewhere between 18-25 in the NFL in many categories.

But his contract clearly hampers our ability to sign talent (hence the tier 3 and 4 FA's we acquired), and his drive, team camaraderie, willingness to actually put it all out there is questionable at best.

While this is a team sport, Cutler (like shea as an example) has been an actual reason the "team" lost. I can only point to a handful of games that I feel he was the actual reason we won.

Historically, he's a shiny turd in Bears turd QB history. Vs the NFL? He's just a shat corn laden turd.

It's amazing how some think the Bears will have a winning season. I admire your optimism.

I don't think there's any way this team finishes better than 6-10. That's the ceiling. They're not just very good in any phase. The coaches can only do so much, and I still think they're a couple years away if their younger talent shines through.
