How bad (or good) do think the Bears will be this year?

The Bears were poorly coached, but they are also lacking talent.

Phil Emery had 3 drafts and produced 3 unquestioned starters. That is a pathetic lack of young talent on the team.

Good to see people coming over to my way of thinking 6 mos. after I was screaming this was a bad, old roster and people should expect a multi-yr rebuild.

It all depends on health, avoiding a rough start, and #6 pulling his head at least somewhat out of his posterior region. 5-11 at worst, 11-5 if we play great and some of our opponents in the 2nd half are a little dinged up. I'll say 8-8.

5-11 to 11-5?

Wow, you really went out on a limb there didn't you?

you do realize that spread will cover 90% of all the teams in the NFL right?

Anyone that thinks the Bears are any better than 6-10 are delusional. Our receiving corps is weaker, not stronger. Yes that might change to equal as the year progress's, but by then we will already be 1-6 and Cutler will have given up. first year receivers don't explode out of the gate folks. Our O-line is Meh, maybe a hair better than meh, our d-line still is a question mark, it might be a bit better against the run, but we still can't generate a decent pass rush and our secondary is abysmal. do the math! Oh, and there is that schedule. The best thing we can hope for is a 2-14 season, and not watch the games and judge them based on wins or losses. but continual improvement in our young players.

First of all, we didn't have a pro slot receiver last year -- we now have a pro producer in Royal. Marshall is great, but last yr he was 30 yrs old & had a down yr (62 rec/721 yds), was injured missed 2 games. We now have White who like Marshall: catches everything, wins jump balls, blocks well, fights for extra yards (albeit in Div I football), but in addition, has 4.35 speed to stretch the field.

Secondly, with FA & draft, we have more options at OL than last yr (Vladimir Ducasse, Will Montgomery, Hroniss Grasu, Tayo Fabuluje). Let's call our Rec Corp & OL closer to a wash, or projected improvement, than assuming it's a step down, which would be, as you say, delusional.

We were 5-11 last year -- we add Fox, Gase, Fangio, McPhee, Rolle, Royal, Ducasse, Montgomery, Jenkins, McDonald, Alan Ball, Mason Foster, Jacquizz Rodgers, Sam Acho, Bear Pascoe, White, Goldman, Grasu, Langford, Amos & Fabuluje -- and now anyone thinking we may be more than one game better is "delusional"? I think that's a rather illogical declaration considering the improvements -- particularly the coaches.

The really REALLY sad thing is the fact that on what is my favorite day of the year, Thanksgiving, that the Bears will be playing the Packers. Why? I feel like the prisoner getting his last meal. The inhumanity of it all:(

So now you are taking credit for changing people's opinion? And to think that I told your mommy to be more careful with you in your stroller.

So, Marshall gets discredited because he is 30, but then you speak the praises of Royal, who will be 29? Sure White can be good, but how good will he be out of the gate? It took Odell Beckam half a season to hit his stride, we can only be so lucky it only takes White that long. Your expecting an awful lot from a rookie. Not saying he won't be great, just not expecting miracles in his first year.

All thirty teams believe they have improved through the draft. Your reasoning is being played out on every fan board for every team. Guess what? it doesn't work that way.
If 3 of these guys are on the roster in three years it will have been a very good draft.

Did you even look at the schedule? We will be lucky to win two games in our own division! Oakland and Tampa look like they should be wins, and out of Washington, San Fran, and St.louis, we might pick up another, maybe two if we are lucky.

Liked Thanksgiving better when the Bears didn't play. Just worried about stuffing my pie hole and catching up with family, watching some random football while semi-napping. Ah, good times

I've looked at several season previews and several 2016 Mocks already, and a lot of people have the Bears pick 3-5 in the draft next year and have us as the 29th or 28th best team next year. There were teams like the Jags, Jets, and 49ers ranked ahead of them. Do you guys think the Bears will really be that bad this year? I honestly think we have a decent team, but I'm also always an optimist in this part of the year.

I'm not going to go into the season with some wild expectations, but how could they possibly be worse?

They hired a head coach and DC who have turned defenses and teams around. They didn't lose much off the D - Paea is about it. And they added players.

The offense lost Marshall but added White, and they were 24th in scoring, so how much worse can they be? They will almost certainly be better.

I am not suggesting it will be a huge increase in wins. But tehy won;t be 5-11 again and won't be worse than that.
