My favorite teams
So first, you need to know what sizes are allowed. Go to Settings, then on the left side, Edit Avatar.
Step 1. ) Go to this area.
It will tell you how large of a file is permitted for you.
9.5MB is HUGE for an avatar. This avatar will take someone who happens to be on dialup, 2G, shitty internet, super-shared network, etc.. a long time to download. Minutes. So please be filesize conscious.
But also, the resolution of 200x200 or smaller, must be met.
Optional Step 2) If you need to edit the gif, use ezgif. If ezgif is down, there are a number of sites that have animated gif editing on the web that you can find through a search.

Once you have the resolution you like under 200x200, and the gif filesize is also good, then save the completed gif to your computer and reupload it to a host somewhere on the web. imgur is maybe the easiest right now.

Now you can submit the URL for the gif into that Custom Avatar section under Edit Avatar. Poof, animated avatar!

Thanks for the help guys. Followed all the instructions, step by step, and I still can't get past the "remote file is too large" error. So I guess I just suck.

I'm only allowed 150 x 150 or 10 kb. That must be it.
