So, how long will the Hawks go without a shutout? I think it's been like 60 games or so now. I wonder what the longest current shutoutless streak is? Hawks have to be up there.

My friend and I were discussing this the other day, and pretty much agreed that the Hawks won't get a single shutout this entire season. Boy I hope they prove me wrong and rip off like 10 shutouts in the last 30 games. But I won't hold my breath on that one.

Also, who gets the shutout? Emery, or Crawford? Or another goalie next season?

The Hawks need to improve their defense and improve the team defense.

Until then, it's going to stay ugly...

Only 8 goals away from recording their first shutout of the season. Good start.

Well obvioulsy we all agree defense needs to be fixed but if you look around the league goalies do have nights where they can muster up shut outs with bad performances by the team infront of them. 2 happened tonight. Ward with a 47 save shut out and Backstrom with a 37 save shut out. Both teams played a really shitty defensive game yet their goalie was capable of getting the shut out but more importantly winning the game.

Our starting goalie (or the one who was annointed as) this season hasn't really done this very often. At this point in a season no matter how bad your team defense is a starting goalie should probably be credited with at least one shut out and probably credited for a good handfull of wins on his own (take that with a grain of salt as we all know it's a team sport). Not sure if we can credit Crawford with many wins that are in the teams win column. Not as many as we should be at this point of the year.

I have been very patient with Crawford as a fan this season. Very optomistic that he would be able to find form that he showed last season and in the first round. Maybe it's still to come in the playoffs? Who knows. But right now my confidence level in him is at an all time low. I really disliked a lot of what I saw tonight and the inconsistency all season is a concern now.

I don't like this feeling. Make it go away!!!

Hawks are the only team in hockey without a shutout this season.

If you date it back to their last shut out in the regular season that would've been game #73 3/23/11 at home vs Florida (http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/recap.htm?id=2010021099)that was 9 games before the season ended and it was Crawford's 4th shutout of the season. So we're now 60+games without a shutout in regular season play.

The others:

#1. 1/9/2011 vs NYI 3-0 on 1961 Heritage Night, also the night Hull/Mikita statues were announced (It was Crawford's 1st Shutout since 2008 when he blanked ANA 5-0)

#2. 1/12/2011 vs COL 4-0 Shutouts in 2 straight games for Crow

#3. 2/24/2011 vs NSH 3-0 His third shutout at home.

*Marty Turco shutout 5-0 @ EDM 11/17/2010

Of course Crawford did shutout Vancouver on the road in the playoffs in game 5 (4/21/2011) last season.

I have Turco's stick from that shut out. Maybe I should loan it to Crawford?

I've been concerned for a while. Too may games that should have been wins that we let slip away.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I could care less about a shutout--I just want a win. It is a team game and the team was pathetic last night.

Bowman should make an strong offer to Corey Schneider who will be a RFA in the off season . Vancouver is committed to Lou with the big buck contract, and if they match the Hawks offer they will have to much money against the Cap for 1 position.

I'd like that idea Tim, but I would be surprised if Schneider stayed in Vancouver (meaning match a high RFA offer)... maybe even being dealt at the trade deadline if the right deal comes along but personally I believe they'd hold onto him until the draft.

Canucks deal with the Hawks? That's not happening.

I sort of agree with Ton. Right now the Canucks are again one of the teams you can talk about as a cup contender. I think this will be their last real year as a legit contender and they probably know it (Sedins are about to hit their downward spiral..they are reaching that age). Keep Cory as an insurance player for the playoffs. I think they do this.

Offer him between 4-4.7 over however many years and we lose a 1st round and 3rd round pick.

Not too bad, but a lot would have to happen.

Stan would never do anything over $4M for a while IMO... that would be like he is admitting that letting Niemi go was a bad idea.
