Goodness pop and Brazilian BBQ? The bloat! At places like that I always just get water lol. Especially if there's no free refills...ouch.

Congrats on that year though. Lifestyle change ftw!

Yeah, I went to water at those places but with a push from my hygienist, I decided to quit pop. I still crave it, but I also love, love, love cold water. Sometimes I flavor it with generic mix from Walmart.

Go to a Brazillian BBQ and there are no free refills.

When I used to drink pop, I had my usual dozen or so drinks. My bill was double because I was charged for each coke. $100 for dinner of which half was soda. Killer.

Coming up on my one year of stopping pop for water the last day in August.

$50 in soda?!? Holy shit man.

I mean, I think I drink an excessive amount (could be 3-4 cans a day) but that's more like 12-20 cans lol.

That's my issue though too. My Dr. told me if I quit soda, I'd drop 20 lbs in a month. I'm not huge (5'10-240) but still that's quit a lot of weight. Too bad Pepsi tastes so good.

I drink water with a lemon slice in it, not because I'm cheap but because I feel fancy ordering it, even at an 8 dollar buffet.

We are pretty similar. I'm just under 6 and weigh about 235. And my favorite was Pepsi (Diet Pepsi after diabetes).
The issue was those places use 1) Bad soda (Coke, sorry lovers) and 2) only 6 ounce bottles where after ice you got maybe 5 ounces and they threw out the other ounce and replaced it with a new bottle. Pretty shifty.

Being only 26, with the amount of soda I drink, I'm going to need to cut back or diabetes are in my future.

For me it runs in the family, though my weight makes a big difference. I went to diet which in of itself is harmless even at the quantities I drank of it. The issue is..hey I'm drinking an ice cold diet pepsi. Sure could go for a bag of chips with a side of salty fries.

Exactly. My grandfather has diabetes, though neither uncle has it yet, but I don't want to take my chances.

Diet Soda is far from harmless.

My home, my vehicles, my family, etc. You seem to place to much emphasis on things if I read you right.
Actually, I don't

What I do value is security and planning for the future.

Which I do as well, grant it I haven't moved out yet (cue jokes about being 26 and living at home) but I've paid down my debt to being less than a single paycheck as well as saved a good chunk of change so that I have an emergency fund of 6 months+ for when I move out.

Good for you. I'm not one of these people that talks about it being tougher in my day cause it wasnt. It's tough now and only going to get worse. We are in a global society and every day the competition pool grows.

So, preparation is the only answer. Save your fucking money. You dont need to be spending $8 a day on gourmet coffee and soda. Pay off your mortgage early. Get an investment manager, hope your wife picks up a few things at a garage sale. It's only gonna get worse.

I don't have to work another day in my life but I do because even I'm concerned and there are others I want to take care of
