I think you should donate it all to the official Eric Clapton Fan Club.

You can't take it with you, Scroogepants.

That isn't why I would dislike your post. It's your hatred as written for people who do have money and work hard for it. You have grossly generalized the attitudes people with money have.

There is no hatred, I grew in a poor family and we were a very happy family, but growing with little money drove me to make lots of money. Which I did, I was pulling 6 digits by my mid 20's and did so for over 12 years. Now I can work a little job because I don't need to make those amounts anymore. I've rubbed shoulders with numerous millionaire's as my career was in oil and gas. Money makes most into a bunch a self indulgent fucking assholes, that's been my experience. If you're not like that, congrats! But wanting to "dislike" someone because he has an opposing opinion kinda says it all.

My point was your over generalization of people with money. There are plenty of self-indulgent aholes who make $40k and they wind up bankrupt. Not everyone can be a Trump.

This thread was about where you stand according to income. I figured most people are better than they think. This doesn't associate with happiness but I imagine you can make a decent living and also be happy. It's not one or the other. I'm sure there are assholes at every income level.

Combined my wife and I make enough. More money would help but we're not hurting. It helps not having an oppressive mortgage over our heads.

I do fine, far from wealthy (financially) but very happy with my spot in life. Love my job, happy healthy family, few worries. If the Bears were a contender life would be just about perfect. We don't require much in my house.

Found this to be interesting... let you know where you stand as far as income level. Granted this is only one aspect since income is only a piece of worth. I imagine most people are better off than they think. I was surprised at my number.

Question? What do you think the standard for middle class is? 30-70%... 20-80%... something else.
I like similar ones that also account for your age group. A household income of 150000 may not be impressive if you're 60 but if you're 20 it is.

I'd take that a step further and add that those "other expenses" also include the cost of living in the area one inhabits. Certainly SoCal is ridiculous. $500,000 in California money isn't as impressive as say someone earning that salary in Central Illinois, which would be different than Kentucky Appalachia, etc.
There are calculators out there to tell you what the relative value of a dollar is in your geography. But I agree. Still 500k is a good sum of money.

That would be interesting. Although 150K puts you top 20% regardless. As many have mentioned it's just one data point with location making a difference as well. I guess if you over six digits at 20 in theory you should be very stable at 60, financially anyway.

Good point. I was clearly wrong.

No problem. I did ask what people think the % range for middle class is. I have no idea what is considered middle class. I know the top 1% are the ultra loaded. This only came up after the OWS stuff. I would say 25-75 would likely be the range. That would seem to encompass most families. Just a guess though.

Yeah, even though you didn't ask, I'm not against the 1% but more like the 0.1% that make more than 20 million a year. And I'm not against them, just think that's too much money/becomes dead money. But just my unsolicited thoughts
