People sometimes get that look of disgust when you order a steak blue. This happens the most at the hibachi places where everyone's meal is cooked on the same grill. So A) you are with people you don't always know, and B) the steak can be cooked bloody right in the same spot right before they get theirs done medium or whatever.

I don't think getting it blue adds any more flavor or whatnot than if it was less rare but still mostly red in the center. It's still better than overcooking it though.

For sure. It's just a psychological thing I think that people have. I had a lady once roll her eyes when I told the chef to take mine off at rare. I didn't ask for permission or anything like that because **** them, it's my meal.
