Good luck in Switzerland Huey. The deal he signed was too big. He played good but not well enough to earn 4.5 mil a year. The Hawks couldn't keep him. If I read the article right this move acts exactly like if he went to Rockford. He still gets paid but no cap hit. I don't think he played bad enough to deserve going to the minors. There he can be in a French speaking area and play in a league he played in before. I think he deserves that.

Not that it really matters, but Huet makes $5.6m a year, not $4.5m.

Its good for the Hawks and it is good for Huet. Maybe he will get some good ice time in the Swiss league get some confidence back and may be able to return to some team in the NHL. I have more faith in a guy like Huet making a come back than a guy like Ray Emery.

Wasn't a good time here for Huet as we all know. Was a messy situation when he joined the team and he just didn't play well. All the best to Huet.

He may not have played up to expectations, but he handled himself with class and professionalism through it all. At least he gets to play close to home, still collects his salary, and walks around with a Stanley Cup ring. Good luck Cristo.

Didn't hear any bitching on his part, though one could perhaps hear a little disappointment in his voice (directed towards himself) when asked by the press about his situation. Definitely had a team first attitude during his time here, unlike another Hawks goalie in the past.

Got to give props to Huet for handling the situation with professionalism. A lesser person might have made a stink, but he was a team first guy and he was awarded with a ring for that. He did after all gather 50 or so points for the Cup winning team in the process. Good luck to Huet.

I realize (and believe) Huet was a good guy, and understand him "not rocking the boat" etc....but part of me wishes he had a little cockiness and wanted to be the guy and was more pissed - outwardly and vocally - about not playing better, being the guy, etc.

I realize (so no one has to correct me) that twice he was handed the number 1 job and lost it...and was given every opportunity to be the man - and failed. But I have yet to meet a goalie that when it came to his on ice play - wasnt the cockiest SOB and somewhat offbeat when it came to his off ice demeanor. Whether its a confidence thing they need to have to tolerate bad games/stretches or whatever.....I jsut never saw that out of Huet - that "swagger"...which to me, gave signs he didnt have it mentally to ever be "the man" and alwyas be a better backup.

With that said...best of luck to him, his family back in Europe.
