a standard freezer packed full of frozen items will stay good for 2 days without power.

i dont have many tips. id recommend having a bugout bag/stock in advance for these scenarios. i've been through about 6 hurricanes iirc. the worst part for me was after the storm and having no power. ive always been inland some though, so the storm lessened a tad. but, no ac in the hot florida humididty sucked.

having a grill that you can cook on with 1-2 tanks of gas on hand helps. charcoal is another route. fireplace if you have one.

stock up on water for drinking but to also hydrate foods that need it.. rice, beans, dehydrated stuff, powders, flours etc
have canned and jar goods ready.
btw you can store eggs outside of a fridge if youre one of those peeps.
i ate alot of pb and j during these times.. even pb and honey..

1st aid kit..

batteries.. radio. flashlights..

just a basic preppers kits..

a generator if you really need power.. a solar charger for phone etc..

well if you is there on work n in a hotel.. just load up on food and drank.. some cash... find a chickenhead n get it worked out..

He is in a hotel in Guam... but I do like imagining fatbeard setting up a grill in his hotel room

I feel like that would be frowned upon in this establishment.

I did a few rotations of Irma cleanup last year.
spent a lot of time in areas where the power had been out for weeks or even over a month.

Several times on our down time, a buddy and I would grab a bag of snacks and go walking, just following our noses. We inevitably ran across a gathering of people grilling en masse.
Walk up, offer chips or snacks or beer for some food and conversation.
Everyone wants to tell their stories.
It is a good time killer if you run out of other stuff to do and nothing is open.

Well, I just found a piece of broken glass in the carpet of my room. So that was fun.

Starting to get sporty.

I had that part from We Were Soldiers run thru my head where the dude tried to bayonet Mel Gibson and he shoots him and the guy on the radio says "How bad is it Hal?" and he replies "It's gettin sporty down here, sir"

Damn, rain and wind really kicking in now. Visibility went down to maybe 100 yards in a few minutes.
