It's a contractual agreement with the NHL. It's so that one TV Market doesn't overlap another TV Market. I'm pretty sure it's always been this way with the NHL.

Someone needs to rewrite that contract for cheapasses like me.

Hawks have re-upped their contract with WGN through the 2015-16 season.....un-freaking-believable....UGH. Every season, now, it seems more and more games are on WGN and fewer on CSN. That leaves us outside the Chicago market screwed....

I am as far outside the market as one could be and I get WGN and don't get CSN so you are incorrect lol.

So for me? I am fucking thrilled. For you? Sorry about your luck wish I could help.

I know how it feels to live outside the WGN Chicago area going to school but really I'm not seeing the alternative. Its not really possible to have every game on comcast. And I only got one more season here at school so I'll suck it up then enjoy every game being on T.V.

I thought the ratio of WGN to Comcast games hasn't gone up? I think there were 20 the first year (I could be wrong), and this year I don't think there was slated to be more than a quarter of the schedule or so on WGN. Is that changing with the new contract, as I didn't see any specific mention of it in the press release?

I don't have any stats to back me up, but I seriously doubt there were 1/4 of the games on WGN the first year of that contract. Just seems like there have been more this year. But I can't check on the Hawks schedule, because once the game is played, the TV outlet is replaced by the score.

TCD, that's weird that you get WGN Chicago way out there....

I am pretty certain that the first year there was about 8 games on WGN.

Also a few more games have been poached by NBC and VS. so it may seem like more on WGN instead of CSN.

The alternative would be not to black out the games on Center Ice.

I know it's so random how my cable company caries it.

I actually watch 95% of the games n line because I am at work when the Hawks play. Only really get to watch the Hawks on tv on Sundays. Sooooo I would be willing to sacrifice my WGN coverage for you guys. Cause I am a class act.

I get the concept of the center ice package and all, I just never understood why they didn't let you do smaller packages. Like pick a particular team, or division, or something. I hate that you have to buy every god damn game which the fan of a team and not the league will not do. It doesn't really bother me because I get all the games locally, but if I ever moved out of town, I would only want to watch the hawks and that's not an option.
