Hypothetical

True, but the thought of losing Hammer makes me want to cry. There's a lot more servicable centers out there than there are top four defensemen.[/quote]

Serviceable? I'm one that thinks Sharp could have been a candidate for the Con Smythe.

Not sure how 3.9 mil per year with that type of talk equals Serviceable. Not dogging you but Sharp is completely under valued. On and OFF the ice. He's a definite LEADER and for 3.9 mil I'll bet you'll NEVER replace that.

I also remember what lack of depth at Center did to this team. You rid Sharp, you have no Center depth. You lose Hammer, you still have the top pair in the NHL and one of the best puck movers in the game from the back end.

As I've stated REPEATEDLY -- There is NO WAY this team will let Sharp get away. He was great during the regular season and INVALUABLE during the playoffs.

Not many centers that put up the points, play both ways, decently clutch, and as cheap as Sharp. Would rather see Versteeg go to keep Hammer.

Nothing against Hammer, but knowing what is in the pipe line, and where the team's D is, Hammer is not a must keep if it means that he will not willing to fit within the cap for next year.

I agree. I'm of the opinion that Sharp is nearly untouchable, and I don't see this situation coming to fruition. I was just curious what others thought of the "hypothetical" situation. I mean, that's the title of the thread for ****'s sake. I'd rather see Campbell, Versteeg, and Byfuglien moved before Sharp, personally.

See I don't think it's a question to many and hopefully the organization.

You need to keep both Sharp and Hjarlmarsson at the expense of losing both Versteeg and Buff.

Sharp and hjarlmarsson give you two things.

Sharp gives you a top six player on a team that has almost all 6 in depth there.

Hjarlmarsson completes what could be the BEST TOP D PAIR in the League.

No question.

I agree with this and I hope the organization does as well. Skilled wingers are literally a dime a dozen in the NHL. Skilled, defensively responsible, versatile, clutch centers like Sharp, are not. Not to mention his leadership role on this team.

I would be furious if we let Hammer or Sharp go this offseason.
