The team missed their window to bring in one of the above average game managers (and I don't blame them, you can't pull the plug on a young QB after they put up Trubiskys 2018 stats). That needed to happen in the offseason to give the QB rhythm and timing with the offense. Fitz or anyone else they could bring in now is going to look like garbage, because you missed the opportunity for them to get ahead on the mental aspects of the offense. Anyone you bring in this late is going to be relying heavily on their physical skills and playmaking ability, and that's exactly what you *don't* want to ask a guy like Fitz to do.
Seeing Daniel's control of the offense does make me question if the Bears would have been better off going with a smarter QB with less physical talent. But that's hindsight being 20/20, there's no justification for dumping #10 after the season he had, most people reasonably expected him to progress. It would have been nice if the Bears had a higher caliber backup than Chase, but there's only so much you can afford to pay a backup QB, and the Bears are quickly entering the phase where sacrifices will need to be made because of the cap.
If anything, it just highlights how different things could be if Bears had picked a different QB in the 2017
"big 3", this team is almost certainly better off with either of the 2 alternatives to Trubisky. But how long can you cry about spilt milk.
