That would be correct.
I really don't have a problem with simple back-and-forth. However when it leaves the thread it's happening in and starts polluting other parts of the site, that is when we have to moderate it and delete posts. We don't want to be sticklers and delete posts, however when 1 argument starts to lead itself into other threads and forums, that is when we need to stop it.
In exchange, we won't allow others to do it either. It's not like we're singling you out. If somebody else starts doing it, be assured it'll be deleted promptly. Dewey didn't delete posts to flex his moderation bicep...he did it so that people don't get the idea it's ok to do that. If you let something pass one time, then 10 people are going to reference it saying ...."well it was ok when _____ did it"
It isn't a huge problem now, but what we're trying to do is alleviate a future problem so we won't have to deal with one. This is the right thing to do.
