Food Network is awesome. I had Netflix for a while, but dropped it recently when I got Apple TV. The TV show selection for streaming is quite impressive, but I don't remember seeing any Food Network shows. I wish they did though. I might have kept it if they did.

I canceled my netflix after 7 years of service. The watch instantly has gotten really shitty. But mail service rentals are still the best of any online service. They have the biggest selection. The price went up a little, but it's not bad. People were made because they did a back to back price increase(like me). But I already had most of the movies I wanted anyways.

That begs another question -- is cancelling really as simple as they say?

Yeah, it's simple. Click, add, watch. Those are your 3 options. 4 options if you want to choose between bluray and DVD.

I had Netflix on my 360 for about 6 months (until they rose prices). Honestly, their instant streaming options are garbage. There's some good documentaries but the options get old fast.

It wasn't worth it anymore for me. I'm doing perfectly ok without it now too.

I'm not sure why you're asking.

I mean, sign up and do the damn free month trial and figure out for yourself if it's good for you at no financial risk.

Give it a go. You did get the one-month trial thing right?

Just check to see what's available for streaming and see how you like the quality and the selection. For $8 a month I think it's worth it but I also have a kid who likes watching Spongebob and the Fairly Oddparents. It's great for a lot of old shows like Quantum Leap and the A-Team as well.

I have had Netflix for...6 years I think. I recently cancelled the disk by mail service for Blockbuster Total Access, but still have the streaming. While the selection of streaming movies can be bad, there are some good titles on there if you look around. That, plus the selection of TV shows, keeps me happy. I'm *hoping* that with the price increase they can start to add better/newer films to the streaming library. I know they're losing Starz, but that doesn't mean that they can't add more content in other ways. As for the streaming quality, it depends on your connection. I have cable internet that gets about 8 mbps DL (using speedtest.net) and my streaming quality is acceptable. I'd say it's on par with compressed/copied DVDs. I use my Blu ray players for streaming.

As for the Blockbuster thing, I switched for a couple reasons. The price was the same, I live near 2 blockbusters, and I like the idea of being able to go to the store to exchange my mailers instead of mailing them in. But if you're not looking into physical discs that won't apply.

Maybe a little late to the dance to help here X but...

I've had netflix for several years and I recently cancelled the disc by mail service and kept the streaming. Overall the service is excellent, the customer service is good, you get your movies the next day and you can cancel at any time.

I use a Roku to stream it to my TV and it works like a charm. Quick load times and great picture (after you give it like 5 seconds to sync up).

The reason I stopped the DVD by mail service is I just don't have the time and when I get discs by mail I felt like I had to watch them so it became more of a job and I stopped enjoying them. Plus the new releases take forever to become available unless you mail your dvd's back on Saturday (so they get them on Monday) and the new releases that are scheduled for Tuesday are queued up.

Definitely check it out because at the end of the day it will end up being a personal preference thing. If you like the TV shows they stream then keep the streaming. If you have time to watch a lot of movies and they aren't new releases keep the the movies by mail.

Wife has an iPad for work -- we'll probably DL it on there, too.

Gonna have the Wii in the bedroom, XBox in the living room...should be able to watch it just about wherever we want.

And so far, I've watched the first episode of "How I Met Your Mother", the first episode of "Glee" and the first available episode of Rugrats (nostalgia). Gonna start watching "Breaking Bad", "Skins", "Sons of Anarchy" and "Prison Break" in the next few days I believe.

Probably gonna try to take my wife's iPad to work next week. paid to watch tv.

So far, so good. Thx guys :)
