My whole life I have talked shit to the Apple fanboy crowd. I recently took a job with a company, was a huge decision for me...been working independently for the past 4 years and have gotten pretty used to calling all the shots / working at home for the most part / etc. But they gave me a really strong offer and was afraid I would regret not pulling the trigger later in life (lots of stock involved). Anyways, not the point.

Everyone at the company uses Apple products. I was kind of "meh" about this at first and was considering bringing in my own equipment...mostly because I didn't want to deal with the learning curve of a new OS (been using Windows since 3.1). Then they gave me a laptop in addition to the imac I use at my desk. MacBook Pro, core i7 15" with the Retina display. Holy. Shit. I love this laptop. Easily the best piece of hardware I've ever owned. It is literally turning me into an Apple fanboy. I probably would never spend the money on it myself, because I am a cheap bastard....but it was given to me, so whatever.

tl;dr got a mac from work, fucking love it.

More like $2800, but like I said...didn't pay for it.

That sucks man. I feel for you as I have been there personally. You strike me as a young dude. Pay your dues, keep your head up, stay focused and keep busting your ass. If you fail, pick yourself up and keep grinding.

The gucci of the computer world. The design is definitely there and the learning curve is hardly there. Good combination. But still a swizz.

OP title made me think of when I first went to Japan. Similar feeling...lol

I hate to admit it, but their products pretty much rock. I almost can't believe I'm typing this shit. Is there a hotline or something I can call?

I have a Mac OS X and I really like it. I can run alot of different programs simultaneously and not have my data processing really slow down(this i think can depend on how many programs and windows you have open and how much memory your computer has). Very simple, don't really ever have problems. It helps that viruses are harder to write for Macs, among other things. The my only grudge with Macs is the heightened costs, but you could probably find a reasonably priced Mac laptop somewhere.

Just a tip i've learned: make sure you restart periodically, helps in keeping a bug free computer.

I worked for the world's largest computer company for 16 years remotely. I had access to their internal help desk to fix any and all my computer problems. Everything was free for me. In the early days of personal computing their were tons of problems especially dealing with corporate VPNs, endless updates, viruses and general OS and hardware problems. It wasn't unusual for the support techs to say "never seen that problem before" and their were many 2-4 hour long support calls.

When I retired, I said screw that and put all Mac products in my house. In 7 years I have had not had 1 hardware issue over 2 computers. I have had a couple of support calls but Apple never even required I buy any support or cared. They just helped me. No call has lasted over 20 minutes.

I will never own another PC if I can help it.

You've proven yourself to be full of shit on this topic.

I'm not a fan of Apple's business practices, as far as Macs themselves, I can't stand using OSX, everything feels like it's in the wrong place, hate the dock. That and iTunes is bad, so having the interface for your walled garden be kinda shitty is no bueno.

EDIT: That said, use what you like, you're the one using it. Just drives me nuts those people that buy shit rather than having a personality or opinions of their own.

I love having a terminal window instead of having to fire up Putty. Also found a code editor (Coda) that I am absolutely in love with. OS X is definitely an interface that is very user friendly, but for a more advanced user... I am really loving it on that end of things as well. And OMG, the display. Unbelievable.

I used to be a big fan of Apple until recently, they have been suing a lot of companies thinking they have stolen their ideas. They just won a lawsuit against Samsung for $1 Billion back in August SMH! Almost everything new they release they make you believe it's something revolutionary like the Retina display, the people who always buy something from Apple every time they release something new are called iSheep. The iPhone did change the cell phone industry back in 2007 but the rest not so much.

What's your problem, Shit for Brains?

How have I been proven full of shit on this topic? I told you my experience working with Macs and then I told you my experience working with PCs. Sorry that you don't like the Mac operating system or that the dock scares you.

Are you saying that buying Microsoft based products give you personality? Are you fucked in the head?

You are probably not aware of this but every large company in the world has some sort of litigation going on either suing or being sued. You don't think Microsoft isn't suing everyone under the sun? Well, they are.
