Should be fun watching 3b that cant hit
He should bounce back, but what scares me about him is that he sucked hitting in Coors Field. He's a career .243 /.337/.430 hitter at Coors Field.

LeMahieu inclusion makes it worse IMO, but I trust that Theo/Jed have a plan.

if he's healthy..he can be a good player

not really the best base hitter..but he's certainly productive

I may be in the minority by looking at things, but i've always been high on Ian Stewert. Although, not sure what his issue was last season. Obviously the Cubs think they can help him develop as a hitter and become a force. It's worth the risk IMO. By saving money on De Jesus and Stewert, i don't care what the Cubs say publicly, they will make a run at Prince Fielder.

I don't really like what we are doing as a team. I don't see how any of this will help us improve now or later. So far just a bunch of moves that mean nothing. Maybe just for the sake of making moves.

His hits to walks is 2:1. He has an on base % of .323 in spite of only having an average of .236. The ratio of hits to walks for Colvin is closer to 3:1.

In looking at this, I actually don't mind it. They need guys who are willing to take pitches and work counts. It would be great if Stewart was a better hitter though. It might come around. It kind of seems this is as much about getting rid of the kind of player they dont want (ie Colvin) as it is about getting the kind of player they do want.

He will also have a good hitting coach in Jaramillo and a good hitting coach/manager in Sveum

maybe they can help?

We have to give it it time.

This...Why does everyone think epstein can turn this around in 1 year?

3 years minimum to turn this around.I think epstein wont make the mistakes he made in boston in signing ridiculous contracts.

i think he will do more next offseason than this one just cause all the contracts that are ending after 2012.

Dempster
byrd
Zambrano
Soriano in 2 years

No way epstein/hoyer can turn this piss into gold in 1 year...give these men some time to do this right

2012 will be a bad year
2013 be better
2014 and beyond......contenders

time to lower expectations this year

Perhaps. But if Theo can focus in and cut down on swinging at bad pitches, that would make me happy. The Cubs have typically been one of the worst teams at that over the years.

One of the things that irked me over the last few years was that most of the cubs players would swing at bad pitches and take good pitches. it was really annoying.
