Ive watched every game of his with the buckeyes and of course the bears. He had a loaded roster around him at Ohio state and that camouflaged some of his weaknesses. Mostly holding on to the ball too long so he he had to rely on olave and company and the great oline he had in front of him not to mention the running backs

With the bears hes had no support. Trouble reading the field and indecision has rendered him ineffective. Superlative athlete that he is hes able to rescue himself

Who knows what his trade value would be. Why not draft a qb and convert fields to a hybrid qb/receiver/running back. Him in the backfield with whoever you draft would present a lot of problems for defenses. I really love the guy. It’d be great to capitalize on his unique skills and personality. Great guy. We would need a really good creative oc

Put players in a position to succeed.
It's over. Whether he plays good or bad, he's out. They don't want to coach him. They would prefer he run Getsy's way and play like shit/lose than do anything that would bring out the best in him. The only time they do is when they lose 5-6 games in a row and the calls for their heads get way too loud.

Cant wait for the straight drop back game Sunday, where Cody Whitehair will magically be good enough to be the C again as he snap punts balls 60 yards above Fields head.

Fields has the talent and the skills. But really the OL need to protect him. As he can't keep getting injured all the time about. Come on you guys, protect him.

"Have you guys seen how many times the Bears were about to win the game but Fields lost it?" LeSean McCoy 6x pro bowler

Fields leads bears to win would be big for his confidence and huge momentum for the team.

6-25 as starter. all that matters

I’m not sure a coaching change would help Fields. The game is just not slowing down for him.
But the game is slow for him....he said so himself after his 1st ever exhibition game......his words, not mine. He's probably waiting for the pedestrians to catch up to him, so he can show everyone what he really can do. Hope he's right.

See this is the problem…. Fans that know nothing about the Bills (or the Bears or the NFL) except “the rankings aren’t bad”.
I'm pretty ignorant and can't count pass 1......that's why I have a 1 team ranking and that's at the end of the season....Stupid me ranks the SB winner as the No. 1 team. Can't process more than that. So please excuse me. I'll thank everyone later for your patience.

They just need to win some fuckin games - the defense is finally good enough to allow for us to play complementary football and the offensive line isn't complete shit right now.

Run the ball with our RBs + Justin, call play-action shots off of that, play good defense and win 4 of the next 7 and I'll be happy.

Justin's shown extremely high periods of play - his week between Denver and Washington was the best I've ever seen a Bears QB, his 6-7 week stretch last year was completely different from a style standpoint but when you put those two styles together and you've got something insane there.

Finishing out this season, I just want to see this kid raise his floor a bit. We don't need him to play at an MVP level to go 4-3 to end the year and to give him more time here.
True....but the key is consistency, not only in football, but in most ventures.....Imo, I think everybody knows that 'high period', but again, no consistency.

Do the bears ever call any slant plays? Damn every other team calls them against us and they always pic up 8 to 10 yards each time. I can't remember the last time the bears called a slant.

Allen is turning the ball over too much and at the worst times. This is supposed to be a SB contender. Not 5-5 team.
Yes, that was my point, Allen is the one making the mistake not Dorsey, Allen even took the blame for his firing.

I guess I just don't get that mindset. I declare him a bust so I will trash the dude and call him "Bustin" or whatever the case.

He isn't a prima dona or asshole from all accounts and is working hard. He was put behind the 8 ball by the organization so I am going to root for the guy not try to tear him down. Just a different way of looking at things I guess.
The correct approach for sure.

The Bears have done a ton to mishandle him, but he's also got a bunch of warts of his own. I do think he likely has more success if/when he moves to another franchise but I suspect his career will look closer to a "Marcus Mariota with better wheels" than a non-rapist version of prime Deshaun Watson.
yes, the Bears did not set him up to succeed. They didn't prepare him to start as a rookie, they put him in against Cleveland's D with a tissue paper O-line. They changed coaches. etc etc etc.

However... He still has to show it on the field who he is.

And it has been shown for 3 years now and it's pretty clear.

The pluses: He has a canon for an arm and can run like the freakin' triple crown winner.
The minuses: mental errors. He doesn't progress through his reads well, doesn't read defenses well, simple doesn't see wide open WRs over and over and takes far too long to get rid of the ball (and he KNOWS his o-line is shit and STILL takes too long)

The Fields lovers rally about those strengths, possibly the best physical traits in the game which can make for exceptionally blockbuster brilliant game day performances.
The Fields detractors rally about those weaknesses. That he takes too long, doesn't read Ds well etc.

The truth is both. All of the above. He's had 3 years and he simply is what he is. The question is, is it enough to win the super bowl?
Probably. If /everything/ else is perfect. I mean Nick Foles won it.

Is the going to be the REASON they win a super bowl? I think if you are true to the facts of his 3-year career, you have to be honest with yourself and say "no" on that one. The mental errors create too much inconsistency.

If Fields succeeds in the NFL it will be in spite of the Bears not because of the Bears. I know many on here do not like Fields and were out on him early calling him a bust. However, even the biggest haters have to admit the Bears have done him dirty.

He was drafted by a lame duck GM and HC. His rookie season he takes no first team reps in preseason and is thrown to the wolves against Cleveland with one of the worst game plans ever devised. It was so bad it was called out on national TV for the ineptitude. We all know the incompetence that is Nagy. He is so bad that his playcalling duties had to be relinquished later in the season.

His second season the new GM dismantles the team to get payroll in check and essentially goes into tank mode. They hire a first time HC who is a previous Defensive coordinator. To groom the young QB they also hire a first time OC in the NFL whose only experience is being the QB coach for Aaron Rodgers 10 years into his career. He grossly neglects the OL and the WR core is so bad that Dante Pettis, St. Brown and Pringle are battling for the #2 spot.

In the offseason going into his 3rd season his footwork has been changed to right foot back instead of left foot back at the direction of Getsy. The WR room is a lot better and some OL help as well (still shit show at Center). His 3rd season has been up and down for sure. The OC game plan has been all over the place and early in the season Fields looked robotic.

Fields very well may have been a bust right out of college but, lets face it good franchises do not support a young QB this way. In fact they have placed obstacles where there should have been support. It is the complete opposite blue print to develop a young QB. Through all of this Fields has been a good teammate and by all accounts worked his ass off. He may fail, but I am rooting for him to succeed and I don't understand why anyone else would wish differently.
I wish I could like this 💯 times
