If the Bears could snatch T.J. Yelton in the 3rd, would you be open to trade Forte?

well not if he's responding to an article about a rumor that he would be traded. he wants to remain a bear the rest of his career. for that to happen, the bears have to want the same thing.

no, he could have just said he wants to remain a Bear and finish his career here. read between the lines.

gurley = lacy, not yeldon....yeldon is a totally different style back. I would not be okay with drafting yeldon and trading away forte

Lacy wishes he was Gurley. Both are physical but Gurley has speed that Lacy could only dream of.

Why can't we let players finish their careers as a Bear? Why do we have to let them go or trade them?

Holding on to players is for someone like you or i too root for. Forte will an excellent reciever has slowed down alot. His break away speed is gone and we should sell high

I don't see Yeldon as an every down back, definitely more as a complimentary one. Forte still has some juice in him. I don't know why we would get rid of him considering all that he does for the offense, his skill set is valuable.

Because being sentimental is for losers. You know who is not sentimental, Bill Belichek and his 4 rings.

That being said who is trading a future 2nd for a Rb who is

-8.8 million in salary
-30+
-heavily used

Forte might get you a 4th round pick if your lucky.

I could think of three teams that need a running back that are win now teams.
- Dallas (if they lose murray)
- Indianapolis (obviously trent was a bust for them)
- Bufflow (Fred Taylor gets injuried too much, CJ Spiller is not good)

No-one cares if he is heavily used, hes 30. he should be

Forte is the complete back.
Hes big and strong. he blocks. He is a great locker room guy.

What we don't like is his odometer and his age.

Are you guys confident enough that Yelton and Lacy are the same back? If so, why not trade forte for a 16' 2nd rounder ?

I want Yelton more than any other HB in the draft. I'd love to see him & Forte in a two headed monster running game. The Bears haven't been able to get a two headed HB running game right since Thomas Jones & Benson. Yelton has surprising pop/power as a runner. I'd rather just keep them to balance out the offense so that either Cutler isn't having to pass so much or a new QB has a safe running attack to rely on.

Forte can't block worth a damn.

He is a very good back, but he is not a good blocker, or anywhere close to it.

And people like to come here and discuss trading him, but they don't realize that RB's his age bring nothing in return. Teams don't value the RB position much any more, and the Bears won't get much for him.

Keep him, plain and simple.

Because while it sucks to not be able to stand behind of player that's been a great Chicago Bear we absolutely have to keep the business part of the game in our minds which sometimes means not giving a new contract to a great Bear or trading a great Bear if it's gonna help the team in the long run. I hate it because i love the loyalty part of everything in not just sports but in life but you can't just hand out bad contracts just because of loyalty. I hated letting Urlacher go but it might have benn the best choice and i feel the same about Peanut.

i agree with that, this is the best running back class since 2008 but yeldon is still not close to lacy's level.

i'd have no problem with yeldon in the 3rd round if he's there. i'm just trying to temper expectations. the op said something about being confident that yeldon and lacy are the same back. which is not even remotely the case.

Best RB class but probably the worst RB for combine stats. Wow we had some brutal 40 times with this class.

Why do people get such a hard on to replace our current players with players whose names they can't even bother to spell correctly? Just wondering.

I think this is more indicative to the modern era than anything the Bears do or do not do.

LOL I always wondered this too. Its not like Forte is hard to spell, I think people just have never seen it written down.. They just assume its "Forty"

If you think any of those teams is going to trade you a 2nd round pick for Forte you are beyond help.

Forte is not getting the Bears anything more than a 4th round pick.

My issue is not with trading Forte or the market for him, it is with people criminally over valuing aging Bears players.
