If the Bears end up with the #1 overall pick - Caleb Williams or Drake Maye and why?

I will always contend I am just a dude on a forum. What's remarkable is the amount of stalkery hate I get from people who seem to be permanent man-children who all engage in the same shit they accuse me of.

Hence why I now have the majority of them on ignore, and why I have what I have under my user name <-

I mean you did go all in on the Storm and made serious claims that people were part of a pedo ring. All without ever owning up to it when proven embarrassingly wrong.

Do you expect if you claim people are pedos with zero remorse that all would be forgotten by simply changing a screen name?

Caleb Williams comps to Justin Fields in a lot of categories, so it’d be insanity (but not out of realm of probability) for the bears to ditch Fields/make him dead man walking in year 4 with the 5th year option not being picked up just to take another just like him in an offense that won’t be tailored to the strengths of the player.

I don’t trust Drake Maye. NC has beaten a couple impressive teams this year but Maye isn’t looking impressive and turns the ball over at a much higher clip this year than last. Mix that with the bad taste the last UNC QB taken by the bears left in my mouth—I don’t touch this kid with a 39 and 1/2 foot pole.

JJ McCarthy I like infinitely better than Maye and think he fits Shanahans’s system/whatever the **** Getsy is trying to run better.

Though, the Lt from Penn State Fanoushu absolutely deserves to be in the conversation for the 1st pick. If you have to ask why, pull your head out of your ass.
Williams and Fashanu is the way.

21-1 TD to int ratio compared to 5-4. How are you leaning Drake Maye or even a little on the fence with what they should do if they get the 1st pick?
Sorry, but you are going in a straw man direction.

Already listed my concerns with Maye. Enough to scare me from taking him that high.

But I am not convinced Williams won't be another 1st round bust.

If you want to take a pass rusher, I don't see anyone worth taking in the top 5. It seems like Verse's stock has fallen a bit as he's not viewed in that Will Anderson tier. If you want to go down that route, you are better off trading down and targeting one of Latu, Robinson, or Verse

The only players I'd be considering at 1 and 2 would be Williams, MHJ, and Fashanu. Maye is a good player, but I don't think he's on the same tier as Caleb. If someone wants to trade up to 2 for Maye, the offer better be massive because it would be difficult to pass up on either Harrison or Fashanu

If the Bears are able to pull off 1 & 2 in the draft, they should trade down and get 9 new linemen. QB wouldn't be an issue at that point. Drain the swamp. lol

Drake Maye is special . He’s always looking downfield, has a cannon arm and can run. I’d actually take him over Williams . I’d be happy though with either .
Just watched a highlight video, which highlights dont tell the true story, but he looked great, lots of very tight window pinpoint accurate throws. Not a lot of guys that are open by a mile in his video, which is actually great because thats how the NFL is.

He also didnt panic in collapsing pockets, would throw with anticipation, looked great so far.

If Fields balls out the rest of the year, (BIG IF) I am low key hoping for a brand new coaching staff for him, and that the Bears end up with picks 2 and 3 to take Williams out of the running and make it a moot point. Then I hope they draft MHJ and Fanshanu.

Now if Fields doesn't ball out? Still want a new coaching staff, I want picks 1 and 2 for the new regime, and lets roll the dice on Williams, and honestly, Fanshanu. Blue Chip LTs are a larger priority than a #1 WR, especially when you got DJ Moore already, and Kmet to be a safety valve for a new QB.

Then again, if there is some weird ass scenario where Fields balls out and the Bears end up with picks 1 and 2, trade Fields to a desperate team and pick up another 1st rounder is a scenario I can get behind as well. But he will only fetch that on draft day AND if he balls out from here on out.

I agree, although, for me, Williams and MHJ are the only 2 options at #1 and #2 because they are far and away the best prospects in this draft.

Harrison is quite possibly the best WR prospect of all time, or damn near close. Any GM that passes on him will end up regretting it. He's the most obvious can't miss prospect of this entire draft, including Caleb Williams. You're getting a perennial pro bowl talent who could end up in the HOF some day.

The board should basically be:

1. Williams
2. MHJ
3. Fashanu
4. Bowers

He's not the same tier as Caleb, he's one tier above. Look at the ball placement of Caleb's throws vs Drake's throws. Compare them when they have a clean pocket vs dirty pocket. One of them is leading the WR and the other is throwing balls the WR's have to comeback for or win 50/50 battles with the defender.

I think Caleb is the better COLLEGE player, however, I think Drake's skills transition better in the NFL and for a longer period. At least, that's how I'm seeing it up to what I've seen from them so far.

And as a Packers fan → the Bears should just draft a kicker and punter with 1st and 2nd overall.
