If Toews Had To Retire Today

If Toews retired today, do you think the Blackhawks should retire his number?

Thats a very very hard question with a ton of variables that could swing you either way. **** thats tough. Roenick goes first, cup or not, he gets his jersey first before toews.

Yes, but if this is related to the injury he has this thread is dumb.

I'd lean towards yes, but I hope that my question isn't happening for another 10 years.

This thread is ridiculous and shouldn't even be brought up...talk about people overreacting to an injury.

Roenick doesn't deserve it and neither would Toews in this situation.

the poster is making a discussion, there is nothing wrong with the thread. and yes a 500 goal scorer who was a huge part of chicago hockey should get his number retired. now stop acting like a fucking baby.

again, this isnt psd.

I'll skip over the bullshit because I'm here to talk hockey.

The issue I have with this discussion is that it is an overreaction to a current injury that no one is sure of. People aren't even sure of the severity much less the actual injury (shoulder or concussion?).

Roenick was my favorite player growing up but he does not deserve to have his number retired. Who cares that he is a 500 goal scorer, this is about what he did with the Blackhawks not over his entire career. Bondra was a 500 goal scorer in the Blackhawks uniform, and hell atleast he was in a Blackhawks uniform when he did it while Roenick wasn't.

Roenick played in 524 games in his Blackhawks career...not long enough in my eyes. Pit Martin, Dennis Hull, Doug Wilson, and Steve Larmer all have more points than Roenick in a Blackhawks uniform and do not have their numbers retired.

Roenick did not win a Stanley Cup in his time in Chicago. Roenick played over half of his career in other cities.

Add all that up and Roenick doesn't deserve to have his number retired by the Blackhawks.

Does Sidney Crosby's 87 get retired if he never plays again? If yes, then Toews deserves his retired too.

crosby will for sure. Sad if he never plays again. Crosby is very good for the NHL and has helped pick up the NHL a bit. There is still a lot of work to do in the NHL to get it back on the map, but if your premium players start getting knocked out, this league will keep suffering.

I agree 100%. Hate Crosby, but I respect him and I want him back for the sake of the NHL. But also don't want him back because the Pens are scary if Malkin plays like he has this year while Sid is there.

Those two, plus Fleury's great goaltending is scary. If Sid came back, I'd put the Rangers and Pens in the ECF

Now that we're way off topic, the two biggest question marks I have about the Rags is their goaltending and offense.
