would your trade for jefferson? At the moment, if no one screws up terribly, cousins ought to go to the wolves. I doubt the wolves want to keep jefferson over love/cousins. Would you trade deng for jefferson?

i'm on the fence.

If we get lebron, deng would be redundant. he's a midrange shooter with a slashing kind of game. Jefferson is an efficient scorer that can block shots/stay in front of a pf/c. Also he's an improvement over either taj/deng.

On the other hand,

he clogs up the paint. If we get lebron, he seems to be a terrible fit for either bron/rose. he's an offensive black hole. rebounds like eddy curry. has an injury history comparable to curry, has a bad attitude, and he is significantly overweight. he has no quickness what so ever, and appears to be a zach randolph/curry in the making.

Well if your team is LeBron, Rose and Noah, all of whom are most dangerous in the paint, I'm not sure adding another similar guy is going to help much. We probably ideally want a PF with a jump shot. Jefferson is paid a lot, and to get him as the third option and not a great fit seems a risky move.

What I do worry about him is how can a big guy who takes so many shots draw so few fouls? He shoots 50%, which is great, but he just doesn't get to the line which holds him back from being a real offensive weapon.

I guess if w can't find something better, maybe we do it (and his deal is one year shorter than Deng's). But it certainly wouldn't be my first choice.

I think Jefferson would be a pretty good fit next to Noah, because of his girth.

Not sure that it's an elite team, but I could see it gelling into a pretty good team.

Hell yeah I would trade Deng for Jefferson.

If we did, or did not, get LBJ. Either way it would be good. If we get LBJ do we want Deng coming off the bench for that much money? If we don't get LBJ we still need to address scoring inside. I'd do it.

I'd only be a little hesitant because I don't think Jefferson is too good defensively and other than the post offense, he really wouldn't fit well. He can't really run on the break or run the pick and roll that well. I also think Noah and Jefferson would clog the paint a little to much. If Jefferson could shoot a 16ft jumper, I think it would work a lot better.

What if Noah develops that tornado shot of his? It seemed to go in most times last year. ;)

If we get LBJ, I think he'd probably play the 2 with Deng at the 3. The far greater need would still be a 3-point shooter. My dream scenario, (minus of course 2 of the big 3), would be LBJ and Kyle Korver.

I don't think Bron is going to play the 2.

I think the argument could be made that LeBron is like a 1 in a 3/4's body. With that argument, I see no reason why he couldn't play the 2. With a guy like LeBron, position matters not.

If by most times you mean about 1 in 3, yeah.

Perhaps I was thinking more towards the beginning of the year where it seemed like he made at least one a game...

Right, thats what we need, to tire the guy out chasing Ray Allen or Rip around screens. Bron is a 3, you move people, not make the best player in the game adapt so that Loul Deng can play.

I am reminded of the we need a center, then play MJ at center advice here. LeBron is good enough to play whatever, just get the best guys we can around him and screw positions (which isn't Deng no matter what, unless he starts shooting the three about 4 more times a game).

Right, but no actually played MJ at C despite having Luc Longley starting. You played MJ at SG and moved Harper to PG.

well offensively sf and sg aren't terribly different. for the most ppart the ball will be in rose/lebrons hands. lebron will be playing point forward.

really where this comes into play is on the defensive end. do you want lebron gaurding 2s? or 3s?

or do you want deng guarding 3s or 4s?

with the injury history, i' d rather have bron gaurding 2s then i would have deng guarding 4s.

If you try to sell that to Lebron, I don't think he comes here....bad idea man...

Why not LBJ and Bosh? Rose, LeBron, Bosh, Noah. I'm sure with that team we could do pretty well with Hinrich as our 3 pt shooter. Oh wait...what am I thinking? LeBron is our 3 pt shooter...or maybe Rose. Anyone but Hinrich right?

well i dont think we have a choice to have hinrich on our team. he's our 6th man for the next 2-3 years.

luckily, we have the ability to sign some1 like allen, morrow, random shooter. however, i dont think boston is going to let allen walk. The real question is what to do with deng. i dont think he has the ability to play the 4. He might be able to if we bulks up significantly.... deng would be the ideal 4 if he could guard 4's/stay healthy.

Deng can't play more than spot minutes at the 4. Why do guys want to play people out of position? If Bron comes here, he is the sf, Deng is gone as well as anyone else that doesn't fit.
