Shutting down an injured play is not tanking. Fields has been showing signs of cumulative hit fatigue. Cramping up in 30 degree weather needing IV fluids is not normal under those conditions. The guy is a fitness nut , so even his well taken care of body is starting to reject the rigors of this season.NFL sponsors don't like that. There would be fines and maybe draft pick taken away. Fields, along with the other starters, would have to be shutdown due to an "injury".
As for the others on offense, there isn't a single player that isn't deserving of benching. Trying a different guy isn't tanking any more than trading Quinn, Mack and Roquan is. Hell, they might find better players that just needed an opportunity( i.e.Jack Sanborn).
