Yeah, that's very true. But sometimes your goalie has to make a play, too. This is what Im talking about...without the two softies Emery gave them, it still should be a 5-2 game. I love the way the team has started but they wont score a 5 a night regularly.

I agree, he could have had that Seabrook one, but that play by Oduya was just stupid. I think everyone knows tho from last year and the looks of this year goaltending is the weakness. The D has to know this and play smart

CarWars was right. Headhunting was not necessary, though next game I'd like to see a fourth line defenseman or forward give Torress a career ending injury because **** That Guy.

A few thoughts on the game...

Thought the defense looked pretty good for a 6 - 4 game. Keith/Seabrook both played under 22 minutes which is going to pay off for this team. Rozsival/Brookbank as the #6/7 are looking good right now. Hjalmarsson had a very nice game - had a couple nice hits and made sound decisions in his own end. Rozsival had a nice debut.

Saad looked good in his debut this season. Showed some nice hands, speed, and shielded the puck well with his body. He did fade off a little towards the end of the game.

Once again, the stars showed up and that is going to be big. If Hossa/Kane/Toews/Sharp all continue and they get some nice support from guys like Bolland/Stalberg and the rest, then things are looking good.

The only player who I thought played pretty poorly was Emery. 3 out of 4 of those goals should not have happened. He rarely looked comfortable stopping the puck last night and was really fighting everything off. The first goal to Moss (a turnover by Seabrook) was a shot that Emery absolutely has to stop. The goal by Vermette (fault on Kane) was a bad rebound. The goal by Hanzal was another bad rebound. The goal by Doan is really the only one that was "acceptable". If Emery is going to get starts in all the back to backs (per Q, though things can change obviously) he is going to have to be better.

A good start versus two playoff teams from last year. Another test at home versus St. Louis, should be a good one.

Out of curiosity, obviously it doesn't matter at this point, are there further tiebreakers after the 4 listed on NHL.com's standings page?
http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20122013&type=LEA

1. Played some number of games as Pittsburgh.
2. Won the same number of games as Pittsburgh, not counting shootout wins.
3. Have not and do not play each other.
4. Identical goal differential.

Just seemed weird that Pittsburgh would be listed ahead of us, just assumed it would be shown in alphabetical order. Wonder what happens if two teams are tied for 8th seed in all tie-breakers too.

Dumbass, I was checking it to see every team's records so far, I was checking how everyone started, not for playoff purposes, and I even said "obviously it doesn't matter at this point". If you read my damn post, I was wondering if anybody knew what the 5th tiebreaker was because it is something I happened to notice, and was wondering if it was just because Pitt was in the East which is shown before the West or if it was because of another tiebreaker. Again, "out of curiosity", I was simply wondering if there was another tiebreaker, which I explained pretty clearly. Reading comprehension, come on now. I found it relevant based upon what if eighth seed is tied in all of those same year (would have to be in-division team this year I supposed), would they do a playin game, or is there another tiebreaker not listed?
