My favorite teams
That's disappointing..
Lehner should be number 1 moving forward
Agreed...so tell me why they got 1st shift in OT? I mean I get Kane. He may be floating but he can still score. But Toews has reverted to Captain Intangibles, and Gus doesn't play D. Neither Toews nor Gus have been remotely good so far this year, and I think that would have sent a message. Honestly, and I might get roasted by some for saying this, but I would have started OT with Saad (or Kubalik)/Carpenter/Keith. All of them had monster games and I think they should have been rewarded for it.The deserved a win there. I liked how hard they played through most of the game.
Does anyone else cringe when it's Toews, Kane and Gus out there for a 3 on 3? Toews is the closest thing to a Dman out there.
Losing Murphy worries me. I hope to hell that JC doesn't do something stupid like put Gus with Keith. Maybe I'm wrong and Keith won't revert, but at this point Keith/Murph were essentially the shutdown pair and have been doing a good job of it (with a monster night last night). If they're going to get back into the win column there going to need to keep that up.Tough loss, but man, what a game by Fleurry and Lehnar. It takes some performance to run Pat Foley out of superlatives. Then it ends up like last years Hawk backups who cant stop anything in the shootout.
Cant feel terrible, team D was finally there, Keith was everywhere, now the question of who gets moved up to cover for Murphy
It really looks like an "outsider" set up our lines based on reputation.
The reason Cat-Toews-Shaw can't ever be a thing is because it changes everything for Toews to have to be the biggest toughest guy on the ice.
Generally skill players want no part of him. Or if you put Dach/Perlini somebody up with him to be the target for goons, then Toews is fine with the 2nd or 3rd tough guy on a line. If you let the opponents toughest linesman match up with Toews you turn our captain into a little *****.
I'm fine with Jewels or Shaw or if you want an angry line, but that third guy has to have a body, not just be tough minded.
Cat is the opposite of that, and after watching Cat lost the last couple games I have decided the only player that can protect Cat's bitchness is Kane to completely hold the puck and turn the ice 200 feet for him. Let him skate around and play hockey in an alternate universe. He needs it the most and benefits the most.
Gotta be Cat-Strome-Kane.
When they drafted Dach I did wonder if it wasn't because they found the ultimate center for Kane.Problem though, is Kane sure seems to be making a stink about sticking with Dach. He does not do that for many. I was wondering about Strome, how he would handle being called a forward, but then they take Strome off the first powerplay line and replace him with Nylander?
Sure seems like a righteous PP would be Kane in the middle and his choice of Cat or Kubalik on either dot, both of those guys can fire the puck. Kane to cat to Kubalik in 1.2 seconds would get goals.
Just seems like another shot for Nylander to prove he belongs, I dont know how much longer they are going to scratch Smith for Dach and not scratch Nylander, or dare I say Strome if he is the weak link.
