If the D didn't screw up the first two goals this would have been a different game. Emery was very solid again.

At least they made a game out of it. Now I feel much better about losing than I did from just the 1st two periods.

Yeah. Emery was really really good. Defense fucked up and Toews fucked up on the Kennedy goal.

Gotta move on and win against the Habs. Corey will be in net.

Did Stalberg find some blow in that 2nd intermission? He was possessed in the 3rd.

Yet another game where the Hawks shorten the bench to a ridiculous length in the 3rd. It's worked in the past (San Jose most recently), but clearly it can't work everytime. With about 6 or 7 minutes left, everyone just seemed to be gassed- especially the tiny defensive corps.

Ah well.

Great game John Scott.

Scott had a pretty good game.

Stalberg caught fire. I disagree about the looking gassed at the end part. They just got screwed. Fleury was on fire.

No, they were gassed- particularly the D.

Everything was fine in the first half of the period and the Hawks were rolling. Towards the end, the D (keith and seabrook) kept getting caught up in the offensive play, leading to Pittsburgh odd man rushes. Best way to beat offensively aggressive defense is to get behind them and that's much easier to do when they don't have the speed to get back.

Edit: Keith played 30:05 and over 7 minutes of that was short handed. That's a lot even for him.

I get what you're saying. I though you meant the forwards were gassed and that's why we couldn't score.

I agree that they were getting caught up in offense. Lucky the Pens couldn't shoot a breakaway shot to save their lives.

Didn't realize Keith played that long. Not good because they play tomorrow.

I wasn't sure how I felt about Morin after his average game on Sunday, but I really like him with Bolland and Frolik. He was doing good stuff today.

Great game John Scott.

This is going to come back and bite the Hawks. Even more reason why they need serviceable #5/6 guy (to go with Montador) who can actually take a meaningful shift in the third. Campoli could have been that guy, but I suppose he wanted too much...but now the Blackhawks have to make a trade.

Scott's fight was nice (Even though it came back to bite the Hawks) but I thought he got burned a few times and was completely out of position other times.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Morin sent down. We already have a Brunette on this team and even though Morin has a knack for the net...his speed hurts big time defensively.

Penalties absolutely killed the Blackhawks in this game. A lot of them unneeded and lazy.

The 3rd period just seemed kinda rushed, like they were trying to do too much in too little time.

That's because they had to do a lot in a little time. They didn't play in the first two periods, so had to do triple the work in the third.

Exactly. They made themselves work too hard in the 3rd

Usually it's the other way around. It was just a bad game yesterday. They tried to make up for it by playing great hockey in the third but the hole was too deep to get out of.

Yep. And it doesn't help when you're shorthanded for half the time.
