The guy sucks, plain & simple.

I said this the minute we acquired the POS.

Hope he's in another uniform next season.

Send his ass to Florida to join Skille.

3 of the 5 Hawk skaters were mid change. Stalberg and Kopecky (two complete offensive studs mind you) were short handed 2 on 3 in Detroit's zone. That information isn't even up for argument.

All Stalberg had to do was keep it deep. Absolute routine play. He did the complete opposite. It was a horrible, inexcusable play. Troy Murray knew it immediately and McGuire knew it immediately. It was a horrible play that shifted the momentum completely. The definition of a crucial mistake.

Take away the fact that it was a bad, blind pass. Take that completely out of the equation. Just the mere fact that he didn't keep the puck deep was what was so completely stupid. It was as dumb as not taking an easy clear on a PK or as dumb as chucking a blind pass through the middle of your own zone. Keeping it deep whenever you have the opportunity- especially when your team is mid change- is hockey basics.

I don't care that Stalberg didn't set the world on fire this year. He's young and he's not paid a lot. However, he should absolutely be held accountable for making a huge mistake in the biggest game of this season (and his career). Like the guy all you want, but why anyone wants to defend an obvious error is beyond me.

You have people here on this board moaning about Kane's play and his salary this season and now people are sticking up for Stalberg's disaster of a play. Weird.

it wasn't really a huge mistake though...he did what he was taught, which like I said above is to put the puck towards the net...plus add in the fact that kopecky was in front of the net.

It was a fine play, and he got unlucky that kopecky didnt get a stick on it.

It would be different if he did a drop pass to nobody, but he did the right thing by putting it towards the net where he had a teamate

From my perspective, you're argument is on, but you put the emphasis on the wrong word.

Imho, the word to bold is blind.

You're right. I was just so focused on the fact that he didn't keep it deep.

But yeah, it was blind. Lidstrom was fast approaching him and rather than deal with him behind the net while the 3 fresh Hawks got on the ice, he winged a pass to a man that wasn't there anymore.

The problem is that Tomoko Skated the the wrong side of the net.

If TomoKO played on the bottom 2 lines all season then Stally would have had a better idea of where to throw that puck. Can you blame him for trying for a goal? I cant. We needed a point.

Now it wasn't what you would want from a top liner........

If both had played together for longer, that might be a goal.

Dont kill Stally for trying. More people should have tried today.

And if we're going to beat this play to death, was kinda iffy by Crow. Definitely savable.

To skip the Stalberg BS. Datsyuk is the best two way forward in the NHL.

Seeing him in person is a joy to watch.

Dude is a fucking magician with the puck.
