Discuss game 1.
yes, Toews should be playing
Hawks win 4-2
Toews is playing.
Toews is playing.
I hope he is truly symptom free. Would really suck to lose Toews in future seasons due to rushing back. That said I am certainly glad #19 will be on the ice. I hope Q puts Toews between Sharp and Stalberg.
Question marks going into this series/game:
-Can the top line of Kane Toews Hossa work? So much skill, but who knows if they'll click. Also about this line- I'm not sweating about Toews and his head, but I'd even take a guy like Sharp over Kane and Hossa if something does go down and shit has to get greasy.
-Related to that top line- how long does it take for Q to bust it (and the 2nd line) up? Phoenix is capable of making things tough for the Hawks and we know Q doesn't like to stand pat for long. Curious to see what the plan B is for these top 2 lines.
-Is this the first time the Hawks are getting a completely healthy Hossa to start the playoffs? If so, how big is that? Pretty big I'd say.
Kind of odd that I'm most interested in those top two offensive lines and not D pairings, goaltending or the powerplay, but that's where I'm at. It's going to take some nifty offense to beat Smith so I hope they can get it rolling fast. Quite sure the 3rd and 4th lines will do their job and I'm not terribly worried about the defense being able to shut down Radim frickin Vrbatta.
With the amount of time that Toews spent being "close" but still not actually playing, I'm confident that they are not rushing him back.
Also, he'll be centering Kane and Hossa. Kruger continues to center Sharp and Stalberg, as that line's been on fire for the last few weeks.
I don't know how much I like Kane or Hossa at left wing. I think someone else made the point that if we want Kane and Hossa to play together that means Kane needs to center the line. I agree the Stalberg, Sharp, Kruger line has been on fire, but I think the key is keeping Stalberg and Sharp together not so much Kruger.
