Toews filling up the stat sheet with a metric fuckton of donuts, yet again.. just throwing that out there

According to "stats", Svedberg was the best player on the ice last night. Clearly this is true and stats are everything. Basically the whole team put up a whole lot of nothing last night, unfortunately it happens but it would be nice to see everyone (including Toews) get going.

The best reasons/excuses for last nights turd (turd used for BHP) is Trotz coached teams have been tough for the Hawks to play against. 2nd of a back to back game, so tired legs. And last, they were outscored.

I predict they will beat Saad's new team tomorrow night.

So how far away is Ville Pokka? Because Svedberg looks bad.

Don't think that Pokka is the answer. Blackhawks are doing everything they can to shield that #6 spot and it isn't working. Svedberg had a goal last night, but he was poor in his own end and the neutral zone. Svedberg needs more time in the AHL and he badly needs to work on his positioning and foot speed if he wants to be effective at the NHL level. I'd like to see Pokka stay down in the AHL and get the time that he needs (including special teams). My guess is that Cumiskey may be on his way up sooner or later after signing a 1 year contract. I just pray that Rundblad doesn't get another shot in the meanwhile...

Lurch is really good at screening his own goalie, I propose we park him in front of the opposing goalie during our PP

Great argument, but "the whole team" isn't waiting on their first goal of the season, nor is "the whole team" a captain.

Toews is saddled with an aging player, an aging great, and either too raw players or not top 6 talent. He takes that to battle against an opponents shut down line.

The other weird thing with Toews...is despite winning a couple gold medals (and being named Canada's best player by many in the first one), and 3 Stanley Cups....due to circumstances like Kaner,

Toews didn't get his public due until very recently. He has gone from a public perception of a young serious captain on a talent laden team to an international hockey god. Maybe the shortened season left question marks.

Or maybe it was the playoff heroics of the third cup that solidified the changing perception that actually, this captain is 27 all next regular season, has 2 golds and 3 cups, and he leads however he has to in the biggest moments.

I just think this off-season has been a bit different for Toews, and with the fallen star of Kane the pressure to lead and be the solid steady rock is greater than ever. Toews probably took the allegations as hard as Kane. He is a captain and cares about others, and the image of his team.

Toews will be fine.

I thought the Caps defense was ass. Hawks had plenty of odd man rushes and clean looks, just got stoned by a hot goalie. Panarin stoned by the post, Desjardins stoned himself.

I agree, they'll beat the CBJ. Put Bicks on the top line - it's one of the few teams he seems to play hard against.

Nor is fantasy hockey the same as real hockey. Stop playing the former and you'll have a better appreciation of the latter.

His line isn't scoring but neither are the lines he faces for nearly 20 minutes a game. He's winning faceoffs and the line is playing great defensive hockey.

Kruger's line, OTOH, is -3 and MK is only winning 47.8% of his faceoffs.

That line has been down so far but it often fluctuates during a year.

What I've not really liked so far is Desjardins on the PK top pair with Kruger. I don't think that unit has been as strong as ideally desired nor as good as clicking like Smith/Frolik were. They've had bad starts to PK early in the year in the past though that got turned around.

Maybe in 40-50 years the Hawks will contend for Cups again.

Back to being basement dwellers like many of you on here until they can draft a real captain.
